Default Large Deppression

Hi

I had to push the 928 back into the garage today.

Unfortunately I pushed against the rear bodywork above the logo and it sort of buckled and has stayed buckled.

I thought this part of the car was made of plastic and would just bounce back.

Anyone know the fix for this.

Thanks.

Ben.

Really? Is there really any part of the body that is made of plastic?

I tought it was all aluminum and galvanised steel.

Bumper covers. Mild heat from a heat gun should help it pop back out.

what did you push with ?
Do the bumperetts look pushed in ?
If you pushed with another vehicle then you may have collapsed the rear shocks on the bumper.
Look under the rear cover and see if the shocks look like they may have collapsed.
You might try using the car jack against the aluminum bumper and the body next to the shock to see if it will move out dont force the shock, they are one time use.
The upper portion of the bumper doesnt usually deform unless the shocks have been damaged

I hope this was written with sarcasm! How could you own a 928 and not know the front and rear are not steel or aluminum?

Ben's car won't have bumperettes, it's a UK car.

Would hot water work rather than a heat gun? Maybe less chance of damaging paint that way. Alternatively there's a rear bumper on UK ebay at the mo.

Heat gun as pointed out by Bill, emphasis on mild heat. BTDT, works just fine. The popped out section can take days or weeks to fully "remember" its old shape, but it will. Summer sun helps, too.

On an OB too? It wasn't sarcasm BTW... Front and rear piece felt like metal. Meh. Unless I punch or scratch them, it's a bit hard to say.

Think OP's location is the UK.
He may be climatologically challenged.

Funniest bumper cover reshape I heard was that someone took a bumper cover with him into a hot tub . . .

What about a hair dryer, less chance of permanent damage and they do get pretty hot.

If you pushed hard enough you may have bent the lip down that the cover connects to under the rear lid....
