Meister / Elford / Attwood 928 in '84 IMSA???
Just been reading about the three South Africans who won Daytona 24 in '84 from here - http://alex62.typepad.com/imsablog/2006/10/index.html - and low and behold, stumbled onto this little gem -
"A special mention was to be made about the Porsche 928 driven by Howard Meister, Vic Elford and Dick Attwood, who managed to bring this near stock car to a well-deserved fifteenth place overall." (second last paragraph)
Does anyone know more about this?

Hi Pierre,
Yes, do a 928 forum search with those names, "Brumos" and "1984 Daytona." You will have a few threads on the 1984 Daytona 24 hour race where those drivers raced a factory prepped 928, the first time ever in a professional races series!
In fact Mark Anderson recently met one of the drivers, Howard Meister IIRC, at one of his races.
Cheers,
Constantine

Anyone know the whereabouts of this car? (the 1984 Daytona 928)
I thougt that he would be in the warehouse of the museum that was now open to the media...
But no...
He wasn't.
Did he just disappeared?

When I interviewed the late Bob Snodgrass of Brumos Porsche (who commissioned Porsche to give them a 928 to race at the 1984 Daytona 24 hours to help lagging 928 sales in the U.S.) he believed Porsche took it back to Germany and later destroyed it!
After further digging I found it...
So any guesses where it is?

Thanks Constantine!
Is this the "real" car?
(the front fenders of the "Daytona car" were a lot wider along with other small differences, these seem the "originals" in aluminium - Were those changed?)
Have you got more photos/information so we can see the "935" wheels and the interior?
Thanks Mark!
Can you please ask him if this is the same car that was raced before by Gunther Steckkonig in the 1983 Nurburgring?
Brian Long says so in is Book but...

Is body one of few (two?) full alu bodies done by factory as experiment or is it normal steel version? IIRR one full alu body was raced somewhere.
