Remove the rear wiper?
Got a question for you guys. I'll be replacing my rear hatch soon and was thinking of having the wiper removed and the holes filled before paint. What do you guys think remove the wiper or leave it stock?

Why are you replacing the hatch?
Both of mine have been removed, and as you know they are daily drivers and there is only a couple of times a year I wish I had them. Looks much better w/o it.

I removed mine. I temporarily put some black rubber/nylon vacuum caps over the studs. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in the long run. I definetely like it without the wiper.

I took mine off during repaint. My Mercedes came without one so Germans have learned. My Mazda has one but I never have turned it on. I saved the pieces in case my heirs want to put it back on.

They are an eye sore and they rattle.
We are lucky Porsche didn't add headlight wipers.

The original hatch has rust at the bottom. I got the red one that DOC took back to Roger. When I'm done I gotta take the glass back to him.

Well - I do use mine - occasionally... doesn't rain often here but when it does its a real downpour.
I think this pantographic wiper is another of the unique '928 design details - like the tilting pod and lay down headlights that are classic 928 features.
I would never remove mine.
I have however fitted it with an even larget Bosch Icon wiper... (and I have dual rear washers...)
Seems the Icon wiper blade doesn't rattle as much - so probably the wiper support mechanism was a big chunk of it... I think it also make for a cleaner look. However its not quite plug & play with this size...

Jason, what will you do with the formed S spoiler around where the wiper used to be? I think it will look funny having a malformed rear spoiler for no reason since the wiper would be gone.
Most of the guys that have removed there rear wiper are the S4 , GT or GTS guys

I voted to keep it original. I've got an "S" so removing it is not even an option. You can't always park in a garage, unless it's just your play car. Using the rear wiper when backing out of a driveway in the early morning is a lot less chaotic with a clear rear windshield.... When I was a kid fantasizing about 928's, I don't think I ever once thought "wow what an awesome machine... But that rear wiper will have to go when I make my millions...."
