it doesnt matter if it was a semi or a motorcycle. If he is going faster, you have a lot of ground to make up, PLUS you need to be in the RIGHT gear.
The semi or cayanne will accelerate proportionally to their net force to the pavement, and (net force to weight ratio. After all, everyone likes a=F/M)

hmm
strap on & whoop you *** in one sentence.....maybe I'm just a perv
CayenneS......385hp and nearly 5000lbs.....it shouldn't even be close.....however it does go to show the power of MOMENTUM....that 5000lbs was running at you before you noticed.....thats quite a bit to overcome at cruise speed in 4th....

Im a little late to this one, but after all we have been through????
if you are rolling , it only depends on the RIGHT gear, regardless of the 2.73, 2.2 , 2.22, 2.64, 2.75, etc. If we have the same car and different gear boxes, and we race from 60 to 120, who will have the best gear box??
In most cases, for that range, the 2.2 will win. But, what we are really talking about is 4.5:1 overall gearing to redline!
There are so many trade offs with the different rear ends and ratios, expecially if we eliminate standing starts.
Now, If you cant find the right gear and get going, you shouldnt be racing anyone!
Now, autos are a different story, right???

A quick downshift and things would have been VERY different....sometimes having a rogerbox is nice!! 60-??? blasts in Sharky are FUN...kickdown to 2nd...rpms jump and your GONE............
I look at it this way...the fastest production Porsche in the world right now (current production) is the GT2.....I chased one around ALL DAY earlier this month, in my 20 year old stock engine 928 and he couldn't loose me....yes he would "win" a bit on the straights (strongest car I've ever seen in that regard)...but I would gain in the corners and braking zones.......and I'm no hot shoe driver either
I must say I was quite pleased that the F430 Spyder got left behind by both of us!!! It made my day!..
