A friend of mine installed one of those (cost a bit more from Performance products).

It was a major PIA to install, looked ok at a glance.

They look better than you'd expect. I looked at a 928 locally and didn't notice it until I came back specifically to look at the condition of the dash. It's probably the best bang for the buck, much better than a carpet cap, but not even close to a real dash. Not nearly as expensive though.

They require trimming around the pod switches and a few other areas to fit properly, and they tend to buckle and lift if they are exposed to any significant heat. I helped another lister install a set once. Within 6 months he went for a Budd recover.

BOught my first shark with one already in it. IT was very warped arounf the defroster vents form the Florida sun. Might want a window shield if you get one. Fit and look was nice otherwise. I haven't ordered a replacement since I'm worried it may warp again.

Not sure what vendor provided the first one.

I had one on my 944 and it lasted about 6 months before becoming warped. Of course it was a black car with black interior. I suggest saving up for a recover from Rob or Paul.

I used one for my '81. As others said heat will warp them. The pod parts came out very well and still look good (5yrs) You do need to trim the switch holes. The leather on my dash had pulled foam from base. I could not find a suitable filler that would adhere to metal and this is where warpaging occured. I believe for a better fit you should pull the dash and apply cover.

If I pull the dash and pod I might as well send it Rob. So Rob, what is the turn around time to do a REAL recover?

My pod was cracked and I was going to go for a new one or cool leather cover so, as a temparary fix, I installed one of the plastic pod covers. It looks so good after 3 years that I'm just going to keep it. My silver 928 is my daily driver and it works and looks fine. I think the trick may be in how one glues it on to keep it from warping. I forgot how I did it but it's perfect still.

That said, installing a whole dash cover looks difficult and I'm not sure how the outcome would be. I'd like it better than a carpet covering though.

The next garage queen that I get will definitely have to have Rob Budd leather art.
