Default The Official 928 Bearing Failure Thread

Hi everyone. With all the recent discussion about bearing failures in the 928 engines here on Rennlist. I thought it might be a good idea to compile all of the info in one place and try to make some sense of it all. If you have had direct experience with a bearing failure in a 928 engine, please provide as much info as possible. Information such as:

Which bearings failed:

What other parts were damaged:

Year of engine:

Mileage on engine:

Did the engine see track use:

Was the engine boosted:

Was the oiling system stock or modified. If modified, please explain:

What type and weight of oil were you using when the failure occured:

Any additional info that others may find helpful:

Thanks for participating. I know this is a morbid subject for some but information is power.

I have a 928 s4 my 87 with this problem shaft bearing & lower engine part damaged....can You help me with some good Idea?

I took my 928 for a drive once and lost my bearings, but was ok once I got back on the freeway.

I can see that happening, I get disoriented just trying to read your posts some times.
