Hoping someone will have found a replacement for the the plastic tubing used in the hydraulic system?

Some feedback to my question posed in 2016

Having measured the size of the connecting pipe I can confirm that it is 4mm in diameter.

I went ahead and bought 4mm nylon pipe and replaced the original pipes which had gone brittle and broken.

I simply installed and cut to length then followed the filling procedure described in another thread.

I had to overhaul one of the adjusters which had some dirt internally causing a leak but otherwise went well and the adjusters now work

Heck of a fiddly job but satisfying to have a system working again.

Another job ticked off the list!

Michel.
Silicone shock oil is what you need, as used on remote contolled cars etc, I still have a small bottle which I bought with the intention of re-instating my adjusters , I never used it as I read so many reports of it being quite a detailed job for such negligable results, ie some saying that they suceeded only to find a few weeks later it was back to square one and not working.., infact it's THE only thing that does not work on my car.

Here's a description of what is involved, unfortunately like the above post the pics are missing due to Photobuckets new regulations, quite an involved process, that more often than not just fails again !

Default I had the whole system replaced

Back in the day, with a new complete system. It failed in a year or two...

I liked it - not for lowering the lights, but had it adjusted so I could raise them slightly to subtly annoy left-lane bandits. Found they moved over and didn't get pissy like if you flashed high beams.

Someday may replace with electrically operated.

I will endeavour to post back on durability for information.

I expect that most of these systems have failed given the newest original parts will be 22 years old.

I have noticed that when you turn the adjuster **** to set the lights to ”0” you can in fact turn it a little further which raises the headlamp beam, this sounds similar to what is described above.

I was going to use antifreeze but it was too thick to draw into the syringe as part of the filling process. I ended up going with screen wash which seemed closer to the viscosity of what was originally fitted.

I am doubtful that oil could be used but maybe you can find a better syringe to fill the system than I could get.

Then there is the fun that goes with going shopping for a syringe and the funny looks you get when trying to explain it is for your car 😂

The silicone shock oil I bought was 20wt which was used in the how-to I posted, not too sure but I think that was the lightest weight they could obtain ?

As for buying an appropriate syringe, I just said, Quote{ It's for my car, and it need's a fix..?.

I went to the local hobby store that carried R/C stuff. They had the shock oil in a variety of weights. I simply got the lightest they had, forget what it was.

For the syringe, I found a "sauce syringe" in the barbecue section of the local Ace Hardware.

This one, or at least very similar:
