Default IN Santa Barbara for a few days

Family emergency brings me out of God's country and into Kalifornia for a few days (till Saturday morning) Would love to meet up with the local owners and swap stories and adult beverages.
Anyone up for a weekday GTG?

If we can just stop the flooding, we might get out and say hello

Yeah, I get here and it's raining. What's the chance of that in Santa Barbara? And to top it off, it's quite chilly here, too. Good thing I brought a jacket with me. I mean, what the hell?
Shawn, just PM me if you want.

Neck deep in the daily work grind - lemme get to Friday and I'll see if it's dry

Meanwhile, enjoy the town. Have a Cajun Martini at the Palace on State and Cota street. Watch the lakers at the Sand Bar. If you surf, and aren't afraid of the brown water, hit Rincon Point and/or take some woman you're not supposed to be with and have lunch with her at Mussel Shoal's Cliff House Inn.

I'm around, but family is visiting until Friday, although they are busy at various times. When are you leaving? There's a local PCA event Saturday morning. I could do lunch tomorrow for sure. What area of town are you staying in? My office is downtown near State & 101. Friday afternoon/evening also seems likely.

Hey, you're walking distance to Schneider Autohaus. My car was there last week getting a workover (tb/wp, cam tower seals, steering rack). Great people, and Peter Bower is a master 928 wrench, trained in Stuttgart on the 928 in '78.

Also on that map is a pointer to State Street and Pedragosa, where I've lately been seeing parked a dual distributer 928 S (euro, of course). It's silver metallic. I've talked to the guy elsewhere who owns it, he's a non-porsche professional mechanic who found it and picked it up as a toy. It's in a lot better shape now than when I talked to him, looks like a completed restoration.

I need a drive. It's 70 miles to Santa Barbara. Full tank of gas, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses...

John, Bronto, what's your Friday late lunch schedule like? Want to get out of LA before the escape traffic, so a lunchtime-latest depart would be best. Is that late enough to get you out of the office for the day? Assuming that the rain doesn't come in on Friday of course.

Anybody else in the basin see a need to do a Santa Barbara run?

Hit it!

Family might still be here for Friday lunch. They will certainly be on their way by mid-late afternoon though. Happy hour or dinner would work better for me, since I have a job Probably better for Shawn too.

Set a place and a time. I'll be there if I can. I need to stock up on play-points again after the weekend MM clinic. Have a stormwater pipe that normally routes runoff neatly from the house down to the street below-- it came apart and needs fixing about 30' below the house level, 20' above the street level, down the cliff. If I can get down there in the harness and get it fixed tomorrow, I should have enough carry-forward credits to meet you guys on Friday. Wish me luck!

Invite him to our GTG. I'm thinking Friday happy hour at someplace like the Brewhouse, downtown near the train station. Not sure what their parking situation is though. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure Peter's a drinker but we guy buy him some BBQ or something.
