I'm changing back to 2.54:1 this winter. 2.20:1 diff and modified 5L engine were not best possible match. Modifies S3 cams made 4th gear too slow for my liking. Those will change also to stock lobe S3 set.

Hi James,
I drove a whole season already with the S4 R&P and I have to say it was a good choice. The longer gearing is not really noticeable under daily driving situations. It actually saves gas and my GTS is even quieter (Hi Nicole).
If you take the shark on the Autobahn everything is normal in daily traffic. If you activate "warp drive" and push it beyond 140 MPH, than you can feel it. It takes longer now from 140 to 160 MPH and to reach top speed is significant longer. But the traffic situation rarely allows runs beyond 150 MPH.

Cover is for automatic but diff itself can be used in manual gearbox.
Based on that it has magnetic pick up in the diff its from '90 MY originally. Can have been in '88 MY later on or he's looking MY from casting markings which is not correct info. It would be good idea to get pinion gear from gearbox he's selling. Othervise ring gear is useless.
Also, it says it's from an '88, but it comes with PSD?
