Welcome to the loony tank. Met your dad, Rusty, today with the car. You guys stole that car! Great starter project and it really doesn't need all that much on first look. Join us at the GTG in Austin, Roger and I will be in attendance and we have invited Rusty to ride shotgun with one of us.

Welcome. For your front tire wear also check the rubber bushings in the upper control arms. Mine were shot on one side of my '82 and it also ate the inside of the tire on that side.

Nice catch and sound like you are really one of the many 928 gearheds on here. In time, you will figure out all the problems. Don't be afraid to ask for help either. Sounds like most of the issues you have are pretty minor too. That's a good thing!

As for the brake problem, check the master cylinder, it's probalby leaking, either internally or into the booster.

I'll second what Jim said, y'all stole that car!!! Congrats!!!

Talked to Rusty about making sure the ball joints have been replaced (upgraded) before the alignment is done on the car. 10 years ago at our first gathering here in DFW, my aluminum ball joint on the driver side in the SilverBulit let loose. The wheel ended up under the car with me sliding to a stop. (Luckily this was at parking lot speed) Do the safety items first, the need to's, then the nice to's.

Welcome to the club! Your dad was up at my place yesterday helping out with the cam tower pull. I think he's about as excited as you are.

Luckily, you have a wealth of support in the Texas 928 crowd. Lots of 928's in Austin and Dallas. I've only been a member since the summer of 08' and I'm already addicted.

Korwen, great car! Congrats! where are you located in Austin? I'm in south austin, near Oak Hill. If you're in the area you should bring her over, talk car and grab a beer sometime. Would love to see it. I'll be at the Austin GTG also. Fantastic that the DFW crew can make the trip! Sounds like a great time!

Welcome aboard.

I'm actually in North Central Austin, at the Braker/Metric area across from ACC Northridge, but Austin's not that big, the trip can be made, especially if it involves cars(working on, not driving) and beer. Sadly the car is in Dallas for the time being, and due to that brake problem won't be visiting us this weekend. For what it's worth, I do believe we have a bevvy of parts on the way, and sometime in January I'm going to go back up to Dallas to work on her (just have to make sure the old man doesn't do the work first, can't let him have all the fun) so who knows, maybe some day we can return the favor and go up to Dallas and hang out with them?

I have gone up for one or two 928 group visits and this summer is the BIG TIME OCIC in Dallas that Rog is hosting. Should be a real hoot. Folks from all over the country will be there! It will be an awesome event!

Korwen, I am right up Parmer lane from you... I am .75 miles south of Hwy 1431 in Cedar Park... I live in Breakaway on the east side of the runway... One story white rock six car garage...easy to find once you are on the East side of the airport on Kodiak or Juneau...

Default Alu ball joints

You may have the aluminum ball joints; IIRC '82 came w/them. Porsche wrote a warning on them; could be the cause of the alignment problem or not, but they need to be changed out if present.

Congratulations on the addiction! I have been working on my since the day I got to get it back in working order.

Just an FYI, I would strongly incourage you to replace the rubber fuel lines (Roger Has Them). Don't want your project car to turn into a BBQ.

The 7 inch rims work best with 225 width tires mounting a 245 makes the sidewalls pinched in at the rim and car is less stabile does not corner as well. When Porsche wanted to fit 245s on the S-4 rear they used 8 inch rims.

+1 on this.
