OK, I've done a fair bit of poking around, and I call BS on Bruce Anderson. Bruce, if you're reading -- I'll go so far as to say you're a liar, I will happily retract if you or anyone can show a link. I see a "Bruce Anderson" username in the system, with ZERO posts, but that could be anyone.
Specifically:
Dec 08 Excellence Market report, first sentence on P. 114: "This year I decided to check in with Rennlist.com's 928 group to get some 928 opinions from current owners. We posted a message asking for responses and asked them...blahblah...I got 93 responses (!) and checked into all of them". (emphasis added)
I searched on "Bruce Anderson", "928 market", "928 market report" and quite a few others, disregarding posts that had fewer than 90 replies -- nothing. The closest thing I could find was this post dated Aug 26 2004. The form mentioned there is still active apparently, but there seems to be no mention of it past 2004.
I'll say it again Bruce, You're a liar.
It was hard to miss the many posts pointing out Bruce's past inaccuracies as well.
If you ask here about any specifics that interest you, you will end up with a much better answer than from this joker. Not everyone here knows everything, I make my share of mistakes about this or that detail -- in the end though there are enough knowledgeable people here that you get to the bottom of any question.

Dave A: Maybe Anderson posted under "Excellence" or some other handle. However, you seem very active, so if there was such a "poll" in the last 12 months, I expect that you would recall it being conducted, regardless of the name of the poster.
Based on my vast 1 day of 928 knowledge, since I favor simplicity and value over massive performance, my current favorite 928 is '83-'84: 4.7L, 4 speed auto, still 16V.

LOL, and I don't even know why.

Here's a thread about the 2006 report where amazingly a poll of Rennlisters got 93 results..

I blame Excellence for editorial laziness - doesn't speak well of the magazine at all. Even if its Bruce Anderson doing the cut and pasting, the editorial review of the issue should have picked it up.
edit: aha.. John D soliciting responses for Bruce's market update: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/154707-928-market-update.html and the actual form still exists: http://mall.rennlist.com/marketupdate/

If you're talking CIS 4.7 Euro S... yes, that would be an excellent choice, if an automatic appeals to you. Let the exhaust breathe better than stock and you will be amazed. The CIS system may need an initial going-through but after that it should be trouble-free.
BTW Xlot, that's the same post I linked.

Yea, I'm in the 'rough part' as well. If you come back to your old stomping grounds anytime in the not-so-distant future, give me a shout. We can take my GT out for a spin to help whet your appetite for a 928. & we can swing by the brand new shopping center-sized Bells Mill Elem. that replaces the old building where you likely spent your pre-teen years.
That is the exact reason that I stopped buying Excellence.
My interest was primarily the Market Update featuring the 928, but a few years back, there was considerable discussion on this forum about Excellence's annual valuation of 928s.
We first concluded that Excellence doesn't share in our passion for 928's - actually have very little interest in our cars as reflected by their lack of 928 feature articles. We also concluded that the basis for the valuations were all over the map and had little relation to real values out there.
Personally I feel that each recent year, the numbers were tweaked a bit 'inhouse' without any real numbers being used - in order to meet an editorial deadline. Their "Market Valuation" when it comes to 928's is no more accurate than those of KBB.
Excellence may be a great mag. for 911 enthusiasts, but I don't see much love for the 928.
Editorial laziness.

All, Thanks to this thread and the one in the 993 forum, I have spent over an hour surfing 928s for sale. grrr. I can't afford two of these things! Man what an illness!
