Default 88 S4 For Sale in SF Bay Area (MY Corrected)

Just alerting others to an 88 S4 for sale for $4000.

Has overheating problem attributed to a coolant reservoir leak. Engine said to be sound. Said to have nice exterior, new tires, DEVEK radiator, new bellypans (I believe).

Call the owner at 510-505-0435 for details.

For anyone interested, I went and looked at this car today. It could be a good deal for the right buyer, but it needs a lot of TLC.

HA HA...... pretty funny really.......

But for a $4k that actually runs, weather permitting of course is a good deal....the parts alone are worth more than that

hmmm if I'm not mistaken it appears those tags are expired. If you are a CA buyer you better do a DMV check before you purchase those fees can add up. Wonder if it will pass smog?

Cool - that save me a trip (I'm five miles away from it).

Did you take any pictures of the drivers seat?

If the car is sold to an CA party, the law requires it be smogged by the seller.

I see it is an 88 (instrument panel and VIN). The seller said repeatedly it was an 89. Hmm... I'll fix the thread title.

Hmm...might make a good base for a dedicated open road race car (2.2 rear end). Wish I had room for it.

In the seller's original thread that got deleted less than 24 hours, among all the people saying "IBTL" I said "Its a black/tan S4 - in before Ryan buys it".

A good solid clean, cut and polish, and leatherique treatment would work wonders on that car - especially as there's no clear on '88 black.

Overheating problem? Odds are its the seal behind the thermostat, or the thermostat itself, or the water pump.. a good TBWP job would probably fix it up.

I apologize, it is correct that it is a 88. I had not driven it for over 5 yrs, was parked in garage (that explains the dust paint on the car :-) So, i had forgotten the exact year of the car. The car registration was not renewed, possibly only for the last year. A used car dealer came with cash today to make a deal, but i declined his lowball offer. I have 2 more looking at it tomorrow, and i hope to sell it to a 928 ethusiast rather than to a used car dealer who will turn it around for a profit. Call 510-505-0435 for any details on this car. Once washed and waxed, this car would look as good as exterior as Jim's car in walnut creek. There is a $1500 value underguard protector that goes free to the buyer of the car. You could sell it seperate on ebay :-)

What exactly is an underguard protector? Is that the belly pan? There are two sections of it - a plastic section followed by aluminum. The plastic section is about $300 when new; I don't know what the aluminum would be.
