I think he's trying to say that he has the aftermarket alluminum belly pans. I have them on the '88 but I don't remember what they cost.

A good solid clean, cut and polish, and leatherique treatment would work wonders on that car - especially as there's no clear on '88 black.

Overheating problem? Odds are its the seal behind the thermostat, or the thermostat itself, or the water pump.. a good TBWP job would probably fix it up.
how over-heated? This could be a diamond in the ruff and it could be a wolf in sheeps clothing.
It sure does look like it will clean up really nice. But if it needs an engine... Well at 4K put an engine in it for 5-6K if needed, you are still under/ at 10K for an 88 MY.

wow and i just saw not driven for 5 years! OUCH.... wonder what all the rubber looks like

And then you can start on the interior, the torque tube and TC bearings, the steering rack and the suspension.

... after that you start to sort out the electrical problems... Mine sat for 8 years. I could have two nice 928s with the money I've put in to mine.

I am the owner of this car. I had a 89 acura too, and i had messed up the two years, by saying this was a 89 - innocent mistake. I had put the car under NON-OP with DMV, and that is why the registration showed as expired. It passes smog, and will shine as good as Jim's car, when cleaned up and required repairs are done. I sold low, because i was moving out, and was in a hurry to close deal past weekend. I want to thank Bill Ball and Jim, friendly people who helped me. But, while the discussion was going on here, someone completely unaware of 928 intricacies, and saw my ad in craigs list, knew instinctively it was a great deal, and bought it this early morning. Another used car dealer came with money yesterday, but i didnt want to sell it to him. Wish you all happy porsche driving.

Well for me this was a situation of bad luck communucation and timing... After I saw this car, I got tied up picking up the family from the airport and then could not reach the seller once I got free. Oh well...

This was an interesting opportunity for someone willing to take a little risk. Although I serously question whether or not the paint on this car would ever look like the paint on my GTS, I do think it could look decent with the right detailer doing the effort. The real question was all the unknown items relating to a car you cannot even power up the various electricals, let alone drive it.

We'll have to see if the new owner pops up or whether or not we'll see this car advertised again on Craigslist. As a simple matter of interest... had it been an '89 or 5 speed, I would have bought it on the spot !
