Shock bolt stuck!

Shock bolt stuck!
One is out the other one is not budging, soaked it, double nutted it, pounded on it with a block of wood and 5-Lb hammer. It's moving but it seems to be stuck in the forward arm bolt will not rotate at all. Any other tricks I want this off of my lift!

Oooops. Sorry, I guess I should offer some advice instead of just poking fun. Haaaaa!!!!! I'm sorry, I think I have it under control now. Tee heee . Whew! Ok, how about a torch. You can either heat it to get it to loosen ( usually works) or if the shocks are bad, you can just cut them out.

It is a good sign that it is moving. Keep soaking it with penetrating oil and tap it forward and backward to free up the rust/corrosion - a little at a time and use plenty of penetrating oil
Did you use an impact wrench on the bolt and/or nut? I'm not advocating this practice (although I've done it myself on Honda lower control arm bolts), but I have used an impact wrench on a lower setting to spin the bolt to break up the corrosion. Just a thought BUT proceed cautiously.

Nice Shawn, Just the rears and yes I got suckered into it!
I tried an impact with two nuts, after hitting my hand I gave up for tonight.
I'll just soak it tonight than back to the back and forth, I'm afraid to hit the nut directly I know the wood is reducing the force.
On a good note the 82 is running!

so are you trying to remove the front lower shock bolt or the rear shock lower link pin?
If you working on the rear the link pins usually corrode in the hub carrier, but there is a hole on the bottom to add PB so to free up the pin. Make sure to roll the pin on a flat surface, if its bent then you should replace it ,a used one will work. Use a generous amount of anti seize to the new or old link pin before refitting it

If it turns, put the big washer on it and beat on the washer toward the back of the car.
If it doesn't turn yet, use a jack on the wrench and let the weight of the car break it loose so it will turn , then put the big washer on it and hit the big washer.
Worked for me. YMMV

I thought more about this today and remembered that I had used an air hammer a few times to knock out frozen bolts and wheel bearings. The "hammer-head" attachment in the air hammer replaced the hand sledge method. The constant hammering effect, with plenty of Kroil, freed up the frozen parts. Just remember to protect the threads with nuts if you decide to go this route.

I gave up and pulled the total side out axial and all and handed it my friend, it's his car.
He is going to get it pressed out and have the shocks installed on the strut assembly. I beat the hell out of it ruined one nut and broke my nuts doing it. It did not budge one bit, so plan B a lot easier in the Long run and yes I marked the adjustment cam for alignment. I said I would help with his car but did not think I would become a Porsche certified mechanic in the process. Some things are better left to the every day mechanic, especially when your not working on your own car. Besides it's on my lift again and I want to dig into my new 82/Gts Body.

I'm glad to hear you you can focus on your car again. I'm hoping to get home in time and have enough dry weather to finish getting my 82 ready for Kissimmee.

My 86 blew a air belt this weekend just fixed it I need to do a little cleaning and should be ready to go on Friday. What time will you be there?
It's a little late on buyers remorse I did not realize how little experience he has about working on cars, makes it hard on me. But this car is rare and in time it will be worth it.
Hell or high water it's coming off the lift today and maybe going to the show!

All I have left is refilling and bleeding the clutch slave and brakes, refilling and bleeding the engine coolant system. Refilling the oil. Remove and inspect oil pressure relief valve and possibly dissasemble and clean it as well. Reinstall the alternator and belly pan. Reinstall the sunroof motor. Title, insure and register the car and then road test to be sure my crank seal isn't going to come out again. I cannot imagine how quickly my oil sump would run dry if the seal pushed out at highway speed.
You know, the normal stuff. Its all small things but they add up. As long as I dodn't have any issues crop up I should be fine.
The 84 is ready to roll but I dodn't want to take that car unless I absolutely have to. My paint issues are not something I want to show off in a car show. The 82 is show quality. Not to mention I really want to drive that car.

Your '82 "to-do" list almost looks like mine. I'm shooting at getting the engine started by Fri. (parts on order) Once that's done I should have more motivation to finish the interior, get an alignment, insure & register it.
I'll be there on Fri in the Pimp '84 S-10 4dr Blazer.
