$2400 in damage
Check for $2400 just came in for my rear end damage
The appraisal company found a bumper assembly with what looks to be bumper cover too at a local bone yard for $750
How do i make sure that the bumper has never been hit can you tell by just looking at the bumper shocks
this is making me sick i gave up a long time ago trusting anyone to do anything for me and have it come out the way i wanted i see a fight coming when it comes time to pick it up
come in low and then add supplemental damages on later is a nice scam keeps the owner from doing the repairs
well off to hit the strip club to see if it makes me feel better

$750 for the used parts is more than it would cost you and NO they need not price new parts. Your cover was over 20 years old. Like kind replacement is a good used one. If you examine the back side of the cover you will be able to see any body work ,tears, repairs...

Three Wheelin'
I wish I could send the adjuster to you that helped me when my 951 got hit last year. Basically the fender and bumper cover. I get three estimates like the other guy's insurance wanted;$2,800-$3,150. He thinks that's too high and wants to send over an 'indepenant' adjuster. So, I'm working on a friend's MY 81 928, my wife's MY 83 928S is in the garage and my 951 is sitting in the driveway next to my 924S(died in the driveway after I bought it 4 years ago) when the guy arrives. He works for a company that used to be a big customer of mine, so we get caught up on mutual friends before he turns to the cars.
"oh my god!! my wife and I love Porsches and we've been to Germany three times. Never got to own one though! Can I sit in one of your cars?" (sitting in the 951)" this is nice!! my wife will just **** when I tell her what I got to do today! You're gonna need a new fender and bumper cover, aren't you? I'll tell them, no problem. You should have your check next week"
$3,580.00 Kaa ching

The policy will stipulate whether new or old parts apply. I don't quite understand why you got a check before the repair was done. I gather you want to do this yourself. Then you need to get estimates that will find and include hidden damage.
My wife's car was damaged recently (driver quarter panel, wheel, rocker panel, rear bumper). We got a bunch of estimates, but then the other guy's insurance company said to just take it to any shop we wanted. I didn't handle this but I believe that may have been from a list of approved shops. Regardless, the list included our preferred shop and the others from which we had estimates. During the repair, the shop found hidden damage that increased the final bill by $1K (total was $5500). A mixture of new (quarter panel) and used "reconditioned" (bumper) parts were used in the job. The results could not have been better and the process was surprisingly painless. Both parties had State Farm insurance, although we do not carry collision/comprehensive on any cars, so it was all handled by the other guy's State Farm coverage. We talked to them once, they never asked to see the car or estimates, we took the car to the shop we liked and picked it up 2 weeks later looking like new. I guess I lead a charmed life, but I would just find a good shop and have it repaired.

What bone yard? What color is the car. Get the VIN from it and check the 928 registry. THere is a reason its in the bone yard, could be TB failure. What other parts can we get off it?

OMG! Charly I thought that was a pic of my 951! I had the same exact damage on mine (yours is Maraschino Red too?) from an incident with a guardrail a couple weeks ago! (some contruction workers stopped by, but were more concerned with the guardrail than me! arrgghh!!) $3,580? WOW!

What town is 20 minutes from you? My brother is in East Aurora, so he is about 20 minutes south of Buffalo.
The reason I ask about the year/color is because it could be the 1986 that I had totaled a few years ago.

You really should have talked to me about the rear parts....remember we have the hand selected best parts from over 600 928s your local guy has ONE but it is the very best ONE he has and the very WORST ! I really was in a dealing mood ...
