The front is not height adjustible on the early cars so its stock. I have driven it some since the last time I lifted the front wheels so its settled out too. Most cars have sagged over the years but since Kermit has so few miles it is at the stock height. Looks high I know, we're not used to seeing them at the height they all came from the factory.

it's a 78, non adjustable perches
back to the discussion on this...
there are many owners of low mileage cars that keep them low mileage just to compete against other low mileage cars .. ie Bob Ingram, who's collection of Porsches is absolutely mind boggling (I believe he has about a dozen 356 right now, 1 he recently bought because it had 2k less miles than the same model he already owned)... I go to all kinds of car events, but I won't enter my car in a competition that I know I have absolutely no chance of winning... it's not worth the time a trouble of prepping the car
case in point.. I knew most of the cars going to Parade (I even helped prep a couple of them) there was no way I could beat them (the owners have resources/time I don't have).. why beat myself up just to be disappointed?
but I do agree there needs to be a class that caters specifically to low mileage, non/rarely driven cars

Are you serious? That is a huge bias IMHO!

So what if you competed in the "restored" class? You can tell them it took you years to "restore" the undercarriage to it's factory condition. IE You spent some serious time removing cosmoline.

They won't tell you its automatically out but the PCRs do say basically that. The Preservation class is not eligible for any of the top awards b/c the cars are not judged with the same criteria the rest are.

Chuck, the guy who's car won said I should do that and tell them its been painted?

Which brings me back to putting in a speedometer with the odometer showing 150,000 miles... just to screw with their minds ! Tell them you decided , What the Hell I am just going to drive it and drive it and drive it ! Show up at the next Parade with a car that fits their "rules" ...

I think Jim is on to something here. If they aren't going to be fair about how the game is played then why should the competitors?

Seriously Chuck, if you don't win in the "restored" class then it would be glaringly obvious that the judges are biased and something needs to be done.

It's unfortunate that we are in the minority on this and who has the time to see all this through.

the parade rules do suck...clearly they are not compatible with a 100% original non-driven P-car.... all would have the same issues....

Great idea but the judges also look at the records including state inpsections..... I know I know Jim, with a computer and some imagination that is easily overcome too......

How many miles could one actually drive in a year ?? This could be like the Roaming Knome , Kermit could be "seen" everywhere. I can easily get shop work orders from all over the country and gas receipts no problem There could be tons of paperwork. Point is no one can PROVE the odometer reading on ANYTHING ....therefore it should NOT be part of the process. In the age of Carfax some dealers run one and see what the last RECORD of miles happens to be then "adjust" the odometer to read just slightly MORE ! That keeps everyone happy !

I can have my wife photoshop kermit in different settings too, would be hilarious to include all this when showing the car. They would all be in disbelief but couldn't prove otherwise.

The problem is that the cars value will probably go down because the new owner would never know the truth.

I used to run our big Concours event every year here (for like 7 years) and I found that to be exactly true! So what I did was:

A. Make the lunch ticket nearly as expensive as the lunch included if you entered your car.

B. All like cars competed against each other...but we didn't have any serious garage queens so all the 28's together, all the early 911's together, etc. Mostly because these are folks that usually run together anyway.

C. Got TONS of donated items that were SUPER COOL! I am talking TONS OF STUFF! To win you had to enter a car! You didn't have to have the nicest car, but you had to ENTER A CAR and then there was a drawing for the best prizes!

SO, the best car WOULD get a small trophy, but the ugliest car entered might actually win the biggest prize! Normally I would have so much donated that every participant would not only take home a COOL goodie bag full of detailing type stuff, but TWO prizes!!!

Last year I handled the event we had nearly 60 cars enter! Keep in mind this is a LOCAL PCA event! We had folks come in from San Antonio, Houston, Dallas! It was freaking AWESOME! A few years the local guy that handles a lot of historic Porsche Racing cars came out and displayed 3-5 of his AWESOME cars! Brought his full on racing rig! It rocked!

It was a TON OF WORK TOO!

It is a lot of work putting on a Concours....I do one every year at my work for PCA....granted the local PCA guys help alot, but its still takes quite a bit of time to pull it off!

Jim,

I only had 3 at that time...never took more than 4 to a show...there was only one other front engine car (that is normally the way we class them unless the class is more than six cars...then we can split them out) at that particular show so I was 1st - 4th places! LOL! I think that was the first or second year I didn't run the show...
