yeah, to make it sound like an F1 car you need to raise the rev limiter up 13,000 RPM higher

at 7K RPM you would need something like a V22 engine or something.

Shoot for another target, an F1 car will never happen.

However, shooting for the F1 safety car the SL63 AMG would be nice, that damn thing sounds amazing! Heard allot from that thing yesterday what with all the rain in spain, i mean monaco.

Start with an X-pipe and then fool around with different resonators and rear mufflers, or no rear muffler aka RMB, or rear muffler bypass.

ya could choke it off at the cats with a 1" pipe, then let it resonate to an RMB. Might come close, but the car might not move much. Fast anyway.

Isn't the 987 max rpm like 6250 or someone around there?

a porsche V8 wont ever sound like the flat 6. The flat six is racier, and i think thats what your after. The V8 wont sound like that.

Oh and apparently based on those youtube clips, F1 sound is thrown around very loosely. You should hear them in the flesh, no street car sounds like an F1 machine. Closest thing is the Porsche CGT, but it would sound much closer if they could double the revs.

while manufacturers like Ferrari use a 90 degree V-8, displacing around 2.4 liters, it is unlikely you would get the same sound as these engines are reportedly turning near 22,000 rpm's at speed (with no mufflers).

the boxer in your example is close to the F1 sound, but it too is nowhere near the V-8 sound of the 928.

interesting goal.....

Good work, I've got to send my camera off to Canon to get stuff replaced.

I'm wonder how that set up will sound.

THE BOXSTER SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE AN F1 MACHINE! you like Nascar, what do you know about F1 dude!

HMMM and do you know why Ferrari makes a 90 deg V8 at 2.4L ??? Well they have to! They have no choice, those as well as some other engine criteria are mandated for F1. About the only thing manufacturers of differing engines play with now if bore and stroke combinations. Of course they cant do this anymore as there is an Engine freeze in effect now.

And they maxed out at 20,000 RPM 2 years ago (BMW and Toyota hit 20K). Now regulations limit engine speeds to less than 19,000.

Stop throwing out numbers as if you know what your talking about please

AND PLEASE DONT SPEAK OF F1 facts that arent actually factual. Go quote Nascar or hemi stuff, or Peterbuilt but of course, do that some place else.

I dunno this sounds pretty close, with the exception of quarter-sized piston diameters and a 1" stroke.

well Ryan,

being as how you asked......

Let's see......Lewis and MB won today (his fourth victory this year), it rained most of the day in Monte Carlo, and Princess Caroline looked good as ever.....the Ferrari's are struggling in the series. Enough said?

Shall I tell you about Indianapolis as well? One of the better ones I have see/been to/ in the last ten years. Dixon won, and Danica was really pissed off. Can't tell you about the Nascar Nextel race, because I didn't watch that one....Perhaps the Nascar truck race?

who cares about the figures....good grief. is it really an issue that's worth arguing about? I hardly think so.

I don't have to defend stupid stuff like this.....

But, to correct you, I like all forms of motorsports, not just the ones that you don't care for....(yes, it's is well documented that you don't like anything that has a domestic marque, and Ryan....that's really quite fine with me!!)

lighten up Ryan, it's really OK......

Rusty, if you don't need to defend stuff like this, then don't. We all watched it on TV. It was a great race weekend and you still didn't respond to my PM. I'm sure you are trying to find a way to do it nicely so you don't get banned again. I'm sure the literary response will be astounding.
