I thought this was a good deal. Sangged one. 75 bucks to the door. The one on my spare motor was trashed

If that part does the job I have no problem selling it for $55.
They say it replaces 944 606 115 00 and if that is so this will really bring the price down. That was selling for $154.
Tony,
Please let me know if it is OK and I will add it to my inventory.

Tony,
I was hopeing you would be able to verify the facts in the eBay ad that the part indeed does replace the existing 944 part number. If you do it would enable me to dramatically reduce the price of the sensor to $55 from $154 by procuring the new part number. Have not seen any for $35 and my price new is more than that. Do not fully understand your reply (maybe it was another of those jokes 8>)) and I am only interested in reducing the prices of parts for the 928 comunity.
Anybody else know if this part is a good part or not?

I guess British humour hasn't caught up with American humour yet...

If you guys can find a CPS source for $55 or less, what a huge plus for the community.

Checked out the mid 80's BMW range and the crank sensor on the 5 series does cross reference back to the 0261210002 with no difference in price.
Any of you engine/electrical gurus out there know if this part will work or not?

I bought the same one Tony did. From my investigations, it is the same exact sensor, except is has a longer wire between the sensor and the connector. I have installed it on my engine, and there was not any problems routing the extra length. I have not started the car yet, so I cannot say 100%. Hopefully in the next week or so...

Roger,
This is where I found the info. This price is also cheaper than the eBay auction that Tony and I bought.

Hope it helps...

They also sell the "original" one:

The flywheel sensor is a magnetic pickup (no Excitation voltage). Any magnetic pickup will work provided it physically fits in the mounting hole and produces a signal with sufficient amplitude to trigger the ignition brain. Typically anything ~.5 V peak-peak.

Hey Rog, it came across like you were asking me if you had my permission to buy it and sell it at a lower price. Thats what i thought was funny, thats all. The part number i saw on the assoc ebay add is the same part number Ive cross referenced else where. It should be the same, Ill know for sure when i get it and if it fits in my block.

Im a "Brit" also Andrew. Came over with the family in '76 with 4 suitcases and then became a citizen in '81. All "i's" dotted and "t's" crossed.

Thanks for those other links.
