Default Porkensioner, just completed install in 90GT

And I have to say, Ken is a genius!

This was my first TB/WP install & all went well, though I was one tooth off on the first try with the belt and I had to retract the Audi tensioner & re-install the belt. Engine fired right up & is running perfectly.

If you're on the fence about this mod- go for it!

My shark has undergone some serious surgery in the last 4 weeks- Intake off/on, Bilstein/Eibachs, Drilled rotors & now TB/WP with the Porkensioner

Well done Brian.

Although I checked/adjusted the tbelt over many years the first replacement was when I installed the Porkensioner; after seeing the OEM setup Kens invention is a revelation. I removed all idle rollers, the OEM tensioner, the main roller etc and installed Ken's device I was amazed at the room left.

Yep...I totally agree. All my cars will eventually have Kens tensioner. In my mind its one less BIG think to worry about. The OEM design just didn't make good sense after taking it apart.

To give Porsche their day the OEM tensioner was designed in the mid '70's?

Much has happened since including Ken's invention!!!

I just finished my TB/WP job and didn't know about the Porkensioner until I was done. Noobie that I am.

However, next one I do, it will go in. The stock tensioner is a MF'er.

How much is the total cost to do the conversion minus the timing belt?

Porkension'r current prices (as of 4-27-2008)

I got a 1st production run of the Porkension'r (no air pump) for $280. You can see the prices haven't increased dramatically. Plus the new bracket is zinc-chromate plated whereas mine is nickle.

The whole TB/WP job for '84 Euro:
Porkension'r (no airpump) $280
16v'r (cam sprocket adjust.) - $140
WP, TB (Conti), 2 cam sprocks, oil pump rebuild parts, acc. belts, rad hoses, & misc seals, bolts - $475
So, that's roughly $900 for everything except a crank and oil pump gear (replaced last go-round). My labor rate is free.

If you need a new crank gear - $100
If you need a new oil pump gear - $100

If I yank my air pump and install the Euro idler pulley that I scored, do I order the w/air pump option?

Yank the air pump, order the no air pump bracket, and sell the idler. It's a waste of a perfectly good belt.
