Default Seatbelt Refresh

The passenger side seat belt was hyperextended and now it will not retract. I've been putting it off, but now the wife says if it isn't fixed, no partner to SATL I checked some the usual sites but haven't found one that explains how to reset the seatbelt. I think it is tangled from the inside. Any ideas or suggestions??

It's been awhile since I did this. . . Pull the rear woofer speaker (6") and then a single bolt IIRC holds the retractor in. Remove it and with a pick you can release the holding mechanism. This will also let you untangle any twists.

That is of course unless the mechanism is shot. My 82 Euro driver side doesn't retract well. I have to help it along. I have had it completely out and tried to figure out how to fix it without making it worse. did not find a way. I think the only fix for this situation is replacement. If you have to do that Larry, the rear seat back, cushion, side panel, bits and pieces and rear side bolster needs to come out to get to replacing the unit. BTDT, You can always do it the hack way I have seen guys do by just yanking the bolster around after you have it unhooked...I suspect you like your car better than than though

Good luck!

Jim-

On the off chance you see this, what holding mechanism? Trying to get new rear belts to 'release', without any luck. Not sure where I should be picking...
