Cool Aftermarket chips

I recently bought a pair of aftermarket (FVD) chips for my 85 928s on eBay one problem, no install instructions. The label on the package indicates one is installed in the "LH2.2 Box" while the other is indicated to go into "Zund. Box" any help would be appreciated or if anyone could email me more detailed instructions.
Thanks

Cool

I installed AutoThority chips in my previous 928 (86.5S). Your 85 has almost the same fuel and ignition control systems.

Your car's engine has two brains - one for ignition, the other for fuel delivery. You'll need to take the brain boxes out (they are in the passeger rightside foot bolster, to the right of the fuse panel and attached side panel). The cables connected to them have a quick release lever. [As with all the connections, use caution while disconnecting and reconnecting them.]

These boxes will have to be opened. Once opened, look for the OEM chips that look like the ones you bought. Notice they have one 45 degree corner. The new chip must be installed in the same direction. Do not use a ferrous metal device to pry off the old chips. Likewise, be very careful not to bend any tabs when installing the new chips.

Good stuff Ed. Is it good practice to disconnect the battery before swapping the chips?

As a matter of routine, I always disconnect the battery whenever I'm about to fool around with any of the car's electronic circuitry. Likewise when replacing a T-belt. You sure dont want that starter to move.

Disconnecting the battery before you go diving into anything that could produce a spark - or a potential grounding is very advisable - the LH Injection Brain is VERY sensitive to sparks/grouns and is likely to commit suicide. When this happens, be prepared to spend some serious $$$ to get going again.
