auto &5-speed vins
I'd like to know if there is a difference in the vin #'s between auto and manual cars.
There is an '87 Cassisrot 5-speed for sale, it's vin is; WP0JB092XHS860202
My '87 Cassisrot auto has the vin WP0JB0921HS860203
And except for the 9th and 17th digit, these vins are awfully close!
Maybe someone could run these through Carfax, and see what comes up?

The last four digits are the car's serial number. The 'H' indicates the 1987 model year, and the '6' indicates a US S4 (I think). The car at which you are looking came off the production line one before your auto.

How cool Brett-
You gotta buy it!!! Just think - what are the chances that 2 cars manufactured in a row would have the exact same color with one an auto and the other a 5 speed.

Thanks Steve and Glenn for the replies! You've confirmed what I suspected.
Yes Jerry, this find was VERY INTERESTING, to say the least! Thanks for posting the page of info, I didn't even think to look into my manuals for this info.
Jay, I wanted a manual car in the first place, now's my chance right?!??!? Not gonna happen though, wish I could. Unless I can convince the owner to trade for something.... Even then, can you imagine the reaction Deb would have to two of them in the driveway!?! Plus the cost of purchasing, then maintaining these two similar cars, would REALLY light her up!
........Ahh, but we can dream while the opportunity presents itself....

Awww John,
I thought of that too, but with her predeliction for finding curb stops with the front of the car , would not bode well for the longevity of the bodywork of HER car!

Brett,
On the upside, at least that is a self- inflicted wound.
My personal favorite is dashing into the store for a loaf of French bread when I'm whipping up a quick spaghetti dinner. Return to the car only to find: Pick one.
A. that the sHARk has turned into a shopping cart magnet.
B. Grandma is trying to get by the car but her hand and eye co-ordination is off a little bit and its like watching an elevator door open and close on an obstruction.
C.The circus fat- lady trying to push the cart between two cars. It could happen if only the cart was just 1 inch slimmer.
D. The lady with the rear Suburban door gently resting against Pattycakes and the baby carrier with optional baby on board sitting on the hood!
While I have a carry permit and though the Beretta 9mm, or Dan Wesson, .357 Mag. easily fit concealed in the door pockets I just can't seem to rationalize clocking someone out over door dings and bonafide, outright, ignorance.
Besides, "She has a shopping cart!Take the shot!"
, just doesn't roll off the tongue in a Criminal Court like it should .
Good to dream though!
Hey did you see that set of 3 928's on E Bay?
We need to put a Rennlist Buyers Consortium Club together. For parts cars as well as daily drivers. Pooled monthly resources, 25 members times $25.00 a month and a a voter flexible Charter with a plan, could be purchasing '
drivers'in 12 months or 2-3 parts cars.
Could have a maintenance float shark within 2 years. Hmmmm

Yeah John,
I saw them, and one of 'em was a Euro, right? They went for something just above $7,000?
And OH BOY, do I like your idea. Parts cars in owners' hands, instead of junk yards. VERY interesting finds, such as this one I've found, in what might be called a "driver's club"? Something like a rental car for long distance travelers, w/o actually renting such an exotic car? One at each various city location, eventually? Near Large cities, of course. The problem with this, is the upkeep of the car, and housing of the car. I'd have to say that I do not have any extra garage space. If a group of us were to purchase this car. Upkeep for me is not a problem. I'd eventually pay the car back, so it'd be mine, and still have it as a "club member loaner", subject to the "club's" voting as you've suggested, of couse.
I in particular, have the occation to visit SoCal, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, and there may be future trips up to the Medford/Grant's Pass Oregon area.
As well as having the opportunity to meet fellow "club" member's, from far distances, y'know, pickup and return exercises.
A real nice dream scene you've conjured up John!
But who would manage the funds of the "club"? And we'd need to have people with storage capabilities for the parts cars....

Well, 15 hours to go in the auction, the seller will not answer my question. Anybody else talked to him? It's on ebay; Item # 1858836453, Hope somebody on this list buys it, or the future owner becomes a Rennlist member. Sitting at $8920, with a buy-it-now of $13,500. Good looking car, no real details, no indication of history.
John, asked my wif if she wanted to drive a 928, and she emphatically said NO!!!
Dagnabbit!
