A Ford Pinto? Have you no respect? This is a Porsche board and that car....my friend...is an outrage! How dare you offend me with that image! Ya know the 914's are offensive enough but that car is just plain obscene. What's up with that picture Scott. I don't drink Foster's beer. I'm offended at that image too. You know a kid might just look at that picture and decide to have a drink. Now look what you've done.

The pic I had certainly didn't warrant this much attention, so I apologize because it stirred up this much contraversy! But perhaps that is a good thing from time to time.
People get offended so easy nowadays its hard to know what is left to do anymore.

ALL RIGHT, ENOUGH OF THIS!!! <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />
I represent the firm of Screwem, Gougem, & Laugh. We represent the Pinto owner's club of America (also known as the Crispy Critters) and we insist that this slander cease immediately!!
Both of our members take great pride in their cars and, when their burn scars permit, enjoy the task of restoration. <img border="0" alt="[soapbox]" title="" src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" />
You Porch people think you're SO smart. How many of those cars were sold? The American Public bought a lot more Pintos than Porches and that should say something about the quality of the Pinto right there!!

Ya know there was a bit 'o this on the off-topic board a while back and John D had to step in because that was a truly offensive pic.
C'mon folks, boobies bounce every day it's a fact of life that no bitchin about will stop; heck, you could write your congressman and that wouldn't even help!
So the only complaint's about it I saw were about drawing attention to one's work-day web-surfing habits; which when you think about it is pretty weak in light of the fact that you can turn the avatars off.
Which brings me to two possible conclusions; a) you ain't supposed to be surfing at work or b) you all are just mad 'cause Tom had the coolest avatar.
Tom, I for one am REALLY suprised that someone who didn't understand your current one didn't go ballistic!

Hey Tom, now that your avatar has changed, I think you should at least post the image in this thread for posterity. Actually, Scott, that goes for you too, not even ever having seen your "leggy" avatar.

Ya know, I guess I just grew up all wrong. If you don't like it, DON'T LOOK AT IT! I support the right for anyone to post whatever they want, I don't have to like it. (Some of Normy's posts scare me! LOL!)
There was nothing obscene about the avatars in question, nothing that can't be seen in person in almost any park on a summertime day. (even here in Utah!) I really enjoyed Tom's and Scott's was great too. (There was a 928 in it?)
If Beth wants to post something that pleases her, I see no problem as long as it's not obscene. **** is a different subject and I won't go there right now. If I don't appreciate whatever she puts up, I don't have to stare at it or explain it to my co-workers or family. IT'S HER AVATAR, not mine!
Grow up people, we are mostly adults here are we not? No, I do not agree with the nosey attitudes that most people exibit today. Censorship is not right and infringes on my rights as a human being. I have the right to look at, say, and do whatever I want as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others. Are they not infringing on my rights by censoring content? You always have the right to look or not to look, don't you?
Ok, I've got to quit and get off my soapbox. I'm only getting started on something I could argue about for hours and I have more work to do on my 928.
Pinto's are obscenity in my book!
Dave

Gee wiz.
There is something called good taste.
Some of the stuff up on the board isn't in good taste, but is liveable. If I recall correctly, no one demanded that the avatars where changed. I probably when the farthest with my "..in my opinion, I don't like them..." The concenous seems to be that they're not in good taste, but OK arn't prohibited.
Course, sometimes I can't read.

As Monty Python put it:
"Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"

If one is afraid or feel a need of having to explain various overtones of avatars on a public discussion group, to family, co workers or friends go see a shrink or some politically correct help group for guidance. You need help. If avatars offend you that much; and/or if you want to stay in what you may think of as politically or morally in line at home or at work, turn your images off.
Come to think of it, keep your eyes closed wherever else you go too. There's a lot of stuff out there that could cause you the same problem.
Avatars should be censored.
