OPG Replacment WYAIT Suggestions
I am about to put one of Roger's silicon oil pan gaskets on the GTS as it has recently started impersonating the Exxon Valdez. Car has done about 50k miles, has newish engine mounts is well maintained and has no noticeable engine problems and does regular track days.
Any suggestions about what other items I should look at while I have the sump off?
Thanks in advance, Charles 93GTS in OZ

you should check the front end components, upper and lower ball joints, both inner and outer tie rods, the sway bar bushings, get 4 new sealing rings for the steering rack line connections.
Possibly get the new power steering resivour and both of the connecting lines one from res to pump and one that you make by cutting off the swaged end from res to rack return line. these lines should be starting to get wet due to age.
The sealing rings go under the car to seal the lines to the rack.
Remove the alternator and remove the brush holder to inspect the brushes.
( you will be removing the alt to drop the crossmember)
Get the car aligned after your done.
Replace the oil and new oil filter
Since your tracking the car it would also be a good idea to check the 2/6 rod bearings.
Look for the oil leak, if its from the oil pump then you will need to do a re seal on it , or a crankshaft main seal front or rear

Thanks Mr Merlin,
I had been thinking about the rod bearings myself. My car is a 93 and has the early "skinny" GTS rods so i'm not sure what the view is on whether the rod bearings can be changed out without changing the rods . I have heard reference to a tech bulletin about not reusing them. Cheers, Charles 93GTS in OZ
