Darrien I'll be driving my 88 to SATL this year. Hopefully you'll have one by then (and you can park next to mine) !

Hey Darien,

I hope you find your '88. I'm kinda doing the same thing. I have been looking for a nice 86.5 Meteor Metallic like yours.

Check out this cool search engine, it might help. (Leave no stone unturned...)

http://jaxed.com/cgi-bin/ms.cgi?veh=...1988&submit=go

It updates daily, and you can narrow your search by model and year. I just pulled up 43 '88s up for sale since February.

Good luck!

Rich

Thanks Rich!! I've seen all those plus some I'm sure I'll find the right one!

Good luck on your 86.5...they're out there.

88S4 on CL,
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/625640479.html

Here is some more info from the seller,

"James, the VIN is WP0JB0923JS860273. The only thing the car needs is a new rear wiper arm and there is a speaker grill missing. I have not been able to locate a new grill. I don't take the car out in the rain so I have not replaced the wiper arm. The splines on the arm stripped. The part is readily available. Also, the crystal in the digital clock is partially glazed. I have been unable to find a replacement. The timing belt was changed early at about 30,000 miles. There is also some minor separation of the inner door panel material which can be reglued. Mechanically, the car is excellent overall. The car gets a lot of attention when I take it out. Let me know if you want any other information. Any defects are relatively minor but I'm trying to disclose as much up front.
Thanks,
Steve"

Carfax is clean but shows the guy just bought the car last month and the last tbelt change would have been in 1998.

Indeed.. my '89 left the factory Oct '88.

Darien is it the VIN year, or the build-date on the door jam that you're chasing?

If you want to make life especially tough, you could look for a car built in the same month you started basic training..

A friend of mine is selling his triple black 88 5spd. Just had an engine refresh done. Paint and interior are in great shape.

Problem is that it is in New Jersey...

I can get you in touch with him if you want.

Dude... that thing is going to feel so slow compared to your SC'd beast. Anyone taking bets on how long before it gets SC'd?

Darien, i appreciate your patience and my slow communication during this move.
the last month+ have turned my world upside down with the family and my normal activities.
i feel certain you'll be pleased with the car and given the deal i hope it'll make up for my short falls here on the forum and getting information to you timely.

enjoy and thanks again for your years of service and the sacrifices you and yoru family have made.

peace to all and thanks for the kind words and prayers. i'm gonna bail for a while with the 928's but in time i am sure i'll return. i got enough of the bug to want more but until things with dad are resolved i'm useless. when lake house and shop are completed i should have enough room to keep more cars.

between my parents, 3 teenaged daughters driving and my other cars we have no room for a bicycle right now. hell i have the golf cart parked in my neighbors garage.

my best to you all.
