Post Removal of Front wheel bearing cover?

Hello -
There is a large "hub-cap" on the front of the 928S4 that you need to get off to "adjust" the front wheel bearing, and I have had much difficulty trying to get it off. Is there a special tool? It is bulbus, but has a very ROUND rudge that may be used to pry it off.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

that's the dust cap, to keep dirt out of the bearing. there's pliers made to do that, but you could pry it off or use a channel-lock pliers. if you damage it just throw a new one on.

on my old rabbits and beetles they were all kinds of banged up...

I've had good luck using a piece of wood (of the reasonably soft variety), placing it under the ridge, and using a rubber mallet to strike the wood while moving it around the circumferance of the cap. Takes a while, but why mess it up if you don't have to?

I use the wood method also. Works great with no damage to the cap.
