Friend had 7.5" and 9x17" factory Cup II wheel pairs machined and pieces welded together to make 10.5" pair. He has 315 tires in them in S4 with only small rolling of rear fenders. Work quality is excellent and after 2-3 years of use they seem to hold together just fine. Still, this is something I would not do.

Todd made these wheel's 20+ years ago for my 79 (for the previous owner). They've been sitting in the basement since I bought the car since tires were not available in the sizes I wanted. BFGoodrich recently released a 255/40-16 street tire so I'm looking to put the on a car. Figured why not test fit them on Todd's car.

8.5" in the front, 9" in the rear.

Right now only two are mounted with 255's on each size wheel. I was curious to see how it looks. I've decided to go with 245's up front, it's a little too bulbous.

The factory slide on spacer is required in the rear and even that is cutting it close. Todd has a 1" spacer on the back of his car and I plan to run a 1.5" spacer on my 80 with these wheels.

Thanks Eric. The 255/40-16 sounds great for the rear. What size are you doing for the front?

These PD's look awesome.

No fun to keep them polished though - but don't paint them!

245/50-16

The 255's will work on the front and if I were buying track tires would go that route. On the street I'm concerned with hitting the fenders on my 79 which sits very low, so going with the 245 to be safe.

I have not done anything in the way of cleaning these wheels since I purchased them. Tires were unmounted the day I bought the car and they've been sitting in various garages then my basement for 10+ years. I'm actually surprised how good they look.
