Bob you the one who put brake anti-squeel on both sides of the pads ? Some say the belts are prestretched I am not sure that I believe that... and with the 32 valve go to the tight side of the window on the tool.

Jim

You believe going to the tight end of the window with 32 valve engines? I agree with that but curious why you have come to that conclusion. Mine is about 3/4 (if not more) towards the tight side.

The dial indicator tool has the early engines up to M28/12 setting as 4.5 . The M28.43 ,44,45,46,41,42,47 states 5.0 + 0.3 ... 5.3 is more than 4.5

Yep. I looked at the pads, pretty darn rigid. If one side is squeeling, the other side must be too. What works even better is some old ball-point-pen springs over the pins between the pads. Use tie-wraps in the center of the springs around the pins to lock them in place so the force is distributed to both pads. There's a lot of secret tricks that most folks don't even think about. Wonder why...

Malcolm,

you dont have this issue at all now do you with the porkensioner

Where in the window does the belt tension read with that?

actually I did measure the belt tension with the Kemp tool after the Porkensioner install and it was exactly where I'd put it if I was using the OEM; toward the tight side of the window.

Of course you have to be quick as the tensioner compensates for the increased pressure when 'twisting' the belt and reduces tension..........magic!!!
