Default reassembling the dash

Over the past year I've been mostly an observer on the board as I slowly removed and marked/bagged my entire interior on my 180k+ mi. '85 928S 5sp.

About two months ago we had our hardwood floors redone and many of my pieces/parts were put into different boxes, baggies were mixed up, and general chaos broke loose. I'd like to blame this one someone else but, nope, it's my fault. I was in a rush to 'move out' of the house so the floor guys could get in.

So, bottom line: I need some help putting my interior (mainly, my dash) back together. I need pictures of the center console electronics (mostly the behind-the-dash parts), the steering column, etc. Most of it I'm able to guess at but I've come across quite a few piece in my inventory that I have no clue why they go where. I looked for interior rebuild posts but didn't get any good hits. Perhaps someone can point me to one or 18.

I don't know if it makes a difference but I do have the full leather blue/beige interior with rear air. Also, at the same time I'll be troubleshooting the rear A/C until I run out of patience / money. Last I tried the blower works but the condenser does not and the lines do not get cold.

Why don't you just post pictures of the parts you need help figuring out applications/locations for...?

Start with the biggest mysteries - maybe figuring those out will make some others fall in place without even having to ask...

I hear you on the confusion, I HATE when I do that. Also, do you have the PET-6 program? I haven't looked up the dash and maybe it's not very helpful for that but the exploded diagrams are usually pretty good for this stuff.

I do have all of the diagrams for the '85 (electrical and PET) but I've never had the console out. I may have to do it to put in my new stereo (I hope not) but if I do I may be able to help you out in the next two weeks.

I agree with Alan though, if you've got some pics of the parts and what you've got, he and others with experience will be able to help you better than just trying to explain from memory.

I don't have the PET-6 diagrams but I do have the manual in .PDF's. They're not altogether helpful other than the A/C diagnosis part which includes some breaking-down of the center console and dash.

Yes, part diagrams would be very helpful. I'll do a search on these boards but a link would be terrific if one is available.

I'll post pics, too, for individual parts. I'm still moderately in the inventory stage since I haven't yet located my turn signal stalk or the non-critical shelf below the glovebox.

Here's a link that may help with some of it.

If you have any specific questions, give me a call. I've done it numerous times & one day I'll write it down, but until then,,,,

Thanks linderpat and Rob -- great link. I've seen this before but had forgotten about it.
