Question Intake R&R - How long?

Doing the intake R&R - got the kit from Roger and I am making a tech session out of the job for the local 928 OC group here (Roger is donating freebies to us! Thanks Rog - I'll let you know how many are comming)...

My question is, assuming you have everything, and you don't find much trouble when you dive in (I know, this is a fantasy thread), how long should the job take? 1 weekend? 1 day (doubtful, considering everything needs a good cleaning WYIT).

My spare intake set has already been powder coated (and oil filler neck), and all the new parts are there.

what are you doing with the fuel injectors? MAF? flappy? TPS? ISV? hall sensor?

getting it all apart is perhaps 3/4 day depending on lunch (hic); what you find and what you do with all the above will determine the remainder.............2 days?

I got a new set of 8 ACCELs from Summit, which are supposed to be plug and play. As to the MAF, there is a great thread on this board that shows how to clean it well. No flappy (it's an 86.5 MY), and the only switches and valves that I'll replace are the ones that come with Roger's intake refresh kit (intake temp sensor and idle air stabilizer). Wasn't going to replace the throttle position switch or the other stuff. Everything works well now, so it's essentially an old rubber upgrade with cosmetics and MAF clean up and injector replace...

For your car, with your experience (assuming 1st time on this job) I'd say quickest 3 hours, if **** happens, a week while you wait for parts.

yep, I'm a novice allright...my hope is that making a tech session out of it will not only give a good excuse to with a good group of other 928 guys, but also allow me to gain valuable insight from others who have btdt...
Did this for the ignition switch replacement and total pod refurbish, and it took us all of a day - till around 10pm... I'm guessing this will take longer...

Thanks for starting this thread! I've looked over the info/experiences for the later cars, but really did want to see what another 86.5 owner ran into. Will be following closely - maybe with this I'll even be able to get it done before SITM...

Okay, this is where I'll post the trials and tribulations, and the odd questions, and maybe even some pics. Looks like the start day will be weekend after this one....Local Rennlisters, send me a PM if you want to join us, and I'll make sure we get enuff stuff from Roger! (btw, can't beat working with Roger for any of these things...the new big 3 - 928 Intl, 928 Specialists, and 928sRUs - we are very fortunate! )

I had it saved in my "Intake" folder in my subscriptions, its about an 86.5 intake job.

Please, please, please.... Post lots of sequential pix. The link that Xlot found for us is a blessing, but more would be better.

I don't want to admit how long I have procrastinated.
