When you start putting money and time onto a chassis to build a racecar start with a good foundation because it is going to take longer and cost more than you ever imagined before the car is DONE ....Taking off parts over time is like building a ship in a bottle , it can be done but is SO MUCH HARDER. You strip a chassis and THEN only put back what you need !! Or leave it pretty much stock and run in a stock class as I have done.

I seem to recall that you got your car for a good price Jim.

I'd say you have had more 928 fun per dollar than just about anyone.

The right inner rail is both up and over. It can be fixed but the bill will be more than the value of the car. If you buy it look for a good body car with mechanical problems.

Yes the less than $2,000 old very brown 1980 has been way too much fun. I have spent much more for tires than I did the car. It sees the track 8-10 DAYS per year has since 2002 was daily driver for several years as well. Gone through 4 sets of $150 racing brake pads , two sets of front rotors it takes a while to drill those things one hole at a time Had a rear axle come loose , blew the clutch hose, change the brake master cylinder ....then a clutch master . Broke a lower ball joint . Broke the input on the transmission got a replacement trans with slip from Mark (thanks again) . Recently lost teeth on the timing belt but no damage. Next outing I plan to run some full on slicks but need to find two 9x18 front rims .....I really want to see how much quicker full on racing tires will be on the big track at Willow that will determine if I step it up a class and run headers/open exhaust .

Tires should get you a few seconds. Cornering jumps up about 3/10ths of a g.

We have been talking about it offline, I hope that we can work something out. The original plan was more along the lines of Jim's brown 1980 but I may have to rethink the plan to work in an S4.
