Default You know the "my friend found in a barn" stories?

You know the ones when you get told of a low mileage classic car that was found in a garage or barn and had for next to nothing! The kind of story that makes you wonder if it ever happens because it has never happened to you.
Well guess what happened to me? I was at my Mums last week when my brother in law came in and we got talking about my S2. He said that one of the girls where he works had a Porsche in her garage that was her Dads and he had passed away. She wants to sell it but is afraid to advertise it as it has been imported a few years ago and never declared as in the country. I asked him to get me some more info. So tonight I get the info and it goes like this, straight from her lips'
'Its one of those Porsches where the front lights flip up, big round back end on it and a hardtop, 1982 automatic, not sure what its called though"
And now for the best bit, it has just over 100 miles on it as he never used it after driving it home from the dealership.
She is clearing some space around it for me to view it over the next week.
At last my ship may have come in.
I will let you know more when I know more.

Sounds like a good Euro parts car.

You've never done anything to really **** off your Bro-in-Law have you?

So if it was never federalized.....then what?

Nobody buys a brand new car and never drives it. There has to be more, a lot more to this story.

25 years sitting in a barn? It's a parts car. No federalizing needed. Just a bill of sale listing the major ID numbers. VIN, engine, tranny etc.

Or restore it, federalize it and wait another 25 years for it to be worth the cost of restoration.

Oh yes they do. I know of several, including a '78 with around 50 (fifty) miles on it. It's not a 928 though.

This could bump Kermit out of the standings except for the fact that Kermit is the original year.

Since when? Not an everyday find but it does happen.

I am living in hope, time will tell. I must say I think I will have some trouble sleeping over the next couple of days until I get to see it.

Correct on the headlight covers BUT I think they are talking about the rear end of the CAR...If it was a Euro they would NOT have been driving it home from the dealership....they could NOT sell Euros. Time will tell what it is , best of luck with it.

well lets hope that all the door and window seals held up and that no moisture got inside. That could be a mold farm if it wasn't properly stored, which is a very real possibility.
