Ok how about this.
"There I was, ripping up the back roads in my 0.75g-capable 928, all 198rwhp horses screaming as I mercilessly flogged them into a foaming frenzy of post-superbowl testosterone, when I sensed a disturbance in the force. The malevolent glowing red eyes of the Z06 appeared in front of me, taunting me, wisps of smoke emanating from the tailpipes while it shrieked into the night in a 32mph display of pure animal force, pounding the tarmac into submission and terrorizing small yellow lines by repeatedly crushing them beneath its vulcanized paws.
With a blazing display of raw power from my elven blade, Cibie, I cast light into the darkness of the Z06 heart, laying bare for all the word to see, the true depravity of the pushrod. And as Rauch and I howled into the night in triumphant glory it slunk into the shadows, defeated, to hide from that which all fear...truth...the 928 rules all!"

One time I saw a Z06, it was parked. Nobody was in it. I wanted to race it, but then again- I would get spanked without my huffer installed.
I know, I know, an exciting story. Please, no wet dreams over this!

You speak wise words. I can't believe that any stock 928 could be competitive with the Z06...at any speed...if the Z driver was serious and not just playing cat and mouse w/the 928.

I have spent a bit of seat time in a C6 Z06.....owned by a lister no less......after some serious on a backroad drive.....
I managed to get a ride around Thunderhill during a DE.....to say the Z06 is a beast is an understatement......its nice basically driving the track in 1 gear and still managing to hit almost 120mph on the straight + have plenty of power to pass people coming off lower speed corners at say 50mph.....that engine is VERY flexible......
However I did ride in a S4 that did the track in 1 gear too....also 3rd....honestly a properly setup 928 seems to handle as well as the lighter Z06.....it just lacks the brute HP the Z06 has....

Since I can't test my Z06 against my own 928s or 993C4, I'd love to have us both on the track at the same time Brian! I think we'd have some fun. I'm actually looking into a few mods that are detailed in this month's issue of Corvette magazine (put out by the same folks that publish Excellence, I think). By modifying the ECU to lean out the fuel just a bit, installing a mild cam upgrade, different intake and some headers, they're seeing about 617 HP & 546lb/ft on an engine dyno and 512/472 at the rear wheels. I met a guy at Sacrameto Raceway who only had the intake and ECU done and he was pulling consistent 11.1s in the 1/4 mile compared to my 11.8s with a stock car. I think GM left plenty of performance on the table with the Z06.

Hmm....me and you on the track at the same time......since you were 8-10 seconds a lap faster than me....I wouldn't see you for very long!!! :>)
Z06's are pretty mildly tuned......I've see dyno's from LS7's with cams-headers-exhaust-intake (air filter) and tuning that put down over 600WHP......7.0L is alot to play with! With slicks it could easily be in the 10's at the strip.......then put some coilovers & bigger front brakes on and rip up the road courses too!
