Looks a bit steep. I wonder why it has an OB rear end on it.

I agree, why would an 87 have an older rear end???????

The answer to your question depends on the PPI

I suspect all of the data in the ad is wrong. Not an '87, I think: wong rear bumper and isn't that a pumpin muffler and I don't think I see side skirts. Although those do look like real S4 front fenders and bumper. It cannot be an 87 and an S. I think most of the conversions of this sort were done in California rather than Germany. But with the quality of the pics it is hard to tell. Could be it is an 87 and it got hit in the rear and he could not find the correct bumper. They are hard to come by these days. But then he would have had to fill in the gap for the skirts in the rear.

People imagine the things are worth all kinds of money, but I think the most I have seen anyone bid/pay is something like 12K for a nice '84 euro S conversion. Maybe we should be keeping track.

Obtain and run the VIN to find out the original model and history. Some 'customizers' will try to update the year of the car to the date the modifications were made. Things like the suspenion (early or late), brakes (S or S4) and engine number would be good telltales of the true history and value of a car like this. As always, a PPI is important, and doubly so on one of these because of the varying quality of convertible conversions. Some were Sawzall conversions where the doors don't always open, others actually have structural members added to the pan to help keep all the wheels going in roughly the same direction.

Odd.....S4 front bumper but OB rear??? Maybe the company that did the conversion only used OB rear bumpers for some reason...but it doesn't look like they had to either.....

it says 928 S

most likely an S that got hit in the front and they replaced the front end with an S4 front end.

Hideous. The best way to take the 928 OUT of the 928.

Andre, those tops are rarer than chicken teeth .... so if it was blue it's still blue.

You can get the soft bits of the top redone by a boat top shop for about a grand, so it could have been changed.

Reading into this, the car "should" have an interesting story. Its a Euro...and why was it sent back to Germany for a conversion? I'm guessing this car doesn't even run judging by the blue tarp just off to the side. The seller is conveniently leaving out a lot of info. This usually means "Great car...BUT...".

Anyone gonna call and get more info?
