I think I've only ever seen one that wasn't dented there to some extent. Never heard of a problem with it, even on the ones that were cosmeticly pretty bad looking there.

Bilateral dents, front and rear. You would think after the first dent, they would get the idea.....it's not a good one. Looks like Mr. Drewster is one lucky guy.

Jim, both sides on mjy GT are dented, with the largest dent being on the passenger side, right up front. I have never had any issues, nor do I belive that I ever will. Hope you folks get the situation resolved to your satisfaction.

Jim, I had the same problem with my 951. I reinforced them with stainless steel plates painted black. I put one plate in front and one on the inner side then I drilled through them both and countersunk the screw you couldn't even tell they were there. Sal

Hi JB;

All 6 of my current 928's have minor dents, on both sides.
I did have an 88 5spd w/o though FWIW.

Jim,
First, thanks for all your advice and help on the board. I also remember reading somewhere on how to use 2x4's to distribut the weight on the rails (maybe that was you).

My 88 has dented rails on both sides. Nothing serious, but they arent' pristine either.

Guys thanks for your comments ... It helps document the fact that the seat rails are nearly always dented , that it has caused no problems and that you all purchased your cars with that "damage" . That to me would be considered " insignificant damage due to lifting , jacking or transport tie down " . Otherwise all 928s with such dents would have to be disclosed as "frame damaged" and only sold as such ....think about that for a moment .......

These dents (the Bastard has them) are caused by incompetent ***** working at quick fix-it repair shops and my favorite place, the tire changing store.

If I had a dollar for every boob mechanic out there, I would be a millioniare.

Jim,

I would imagine that many of these cars with distorted frame rails have passed PPI's by Porsche mechanics at Porsche dealerships. No red flag by the "experts" doing the PPI's.

I guess there's more than one possible meaning for the term "silicon valley".

I got loughts of dents. None are enough to worry me about the strength of the car.

And not just from the jacks eighter. I've got a few that seem to come from botteming the car out. High curbs or something.

Well, not unless you try to jack up the car in the middle of the car.
