The hub looks good; I would clean it with Scotch Brite, by doing so you have made microscopic scratches in the hub, allowing oil to lubricate the seal. To do that modification you must disassemble the pump, if you don’t have the extra parts, seal and 0-ring just leave it. Don’t drill any bigger than ¼ smaller is ok.

Your Welcome

I made the 'A' mounting pins from two standard long shank metric bolts.

Heinrich,
Man, I feel your pain. I hate to do things twice to fix some screw-up that I did wrong the first time.

LOL John yeah ... well, here I am doing it again. Borland thank you -- what do those do for us? I see them in the manual but don't see text referring to them?

Heinrich,
Are you doing this mod this week? Can you take a few pics? I am changing these seals out this weekend, and this sounds like something I might want to do.

Thanks
Mike

Mike, the pump is disassembled, I'll look and see if I want to make the mod per Steve's recommendations, and yes it will be this weekend...

Heinrich,
The home made studs that were pictured help hold the paper gasket that folded on you... the best way to avoid tearing or folding is by centering the pump on the bolts which prevents the need to turn it. This is why I worry putting in a tranny with a pump installed by someone else
I like the cost of his tools too
Good luck buddy....

You can also screw two smaller bolts, finger tight, in the threaded holes, and use them to grab the whole assembly when making the fit-up.

When the unit is vertical, the pump housing tends to want to drop in place from your hands, so a better grip is helpful.
