Oscar - What you have done is truly amazing! I like the tie down straps on the airbox cover. Where did they come from?

Paul,

They are stock...just polished with some polishing paste. In regards to Georges question on the insulated intake tubes, the later models are insulated but the earlier S4 cars are not.

Thanks Dave, and thanks for your advice throughout this project. You were right on the imperfections on the castings...in some places they are still visible.

Thats just great Oscar. I am in the middle of an engine pull (for the hell of it ), and I have just sent all my metal pieces out for media blasting.

Could you please expand on where you found the hardware, which I think you mentioned was stainless? The Cam cover bolts are obviously special, and can not be ordered from just any stainless supplier. I may get mine chromed.... After I get quite a few new ones that were just STRIPPPPPPEED.

You found that the throttle linkage console was polishable? Interesting.

Did you also polish the fuel damper in the front?

Thanks for the pics.

I just saw an ad on Horse-Power TV for just the thing you need to stop oxidation. It's called ZOOPSEAL. It's expensive, but if it really works.... it must be worth it. Here is the link:

Brendan,
The stainless steel hardware I used was mainly on the side covers to the intake and wherever else I found a need. I wanted to give it a nicer appearance so I went with button heads. All the SST hardware can be picked up at any local bolt shop. In terms of the cam cover bolts, you're right, they are unique. I took these bolts and put each one on a drill and turned them with steel wool and then mother's polish. It actually only takes about a minute to do each one. Once they were polished, I clear coated them...same thing for the washers. The fuel damper in the front of the engine was polished in the same manner, but the lower portion was painted with a black wrinkle paint. There's a lot of silly detail work done and the reason was I had about 4 weeks to wait for the main pieces to come back from the polisher. I think if I had the engine out of the car there's no telling what kind of mayhem would follow. The zoop seal looks interesting but I've got the thing put back together so maybe on a different project.

By the way, the engine looks awesome...

I think I may have some trouble finding a bolt shop in San Diego. But I will sure try.

I will be doing your second idea - BLACK or someything close, with all lettering silver or polished color.
