Wow, Looks nice but then I am partial to all 928s, especially red ones without the side moldings :)

Nice wheels too.

Nice baby! I like that it does not have the side moldings (I totally agree with Jerry here).

BTW, I'm near Fremont. Fremont, California, that is...

I also like the look without side moldings, and would love to remove mine. Has anyone done this? Are they just stuck on with tape or glue and can be removed with a piece of dental floss? My concern would be having a red stripe down the side where the paint is a slightly different color after 14 years of non-exposure...

Great looking 928!

Looking at your picture reminds me that I seriously need to get some better looking wheels and retire the manhole covers!

She looks well rested! Definitely nice wheels.

Skip, those side moldings are attached with fasteners through the body panels. Quite a bit of body work required to remove them.

Skip:

Unfortunately the side mouldings are held by plastic clips at their ends. Each plastic clip sits in a hole, about 3/4 inch diameter. Since the doors and fenders are Aluminum, you'd need someone who can weld aluminum.

I have talked to a body shop / paint shop owner, and he suggested to wait until a full paint job is justified, then do it all at once. He quoted $3500, including removing and replacing all trim, stripping the paint to the metal and rebuilding it from scratch with German made and mixed paint, but excluding any new rubber or trim pieces. That's a California, SF Bay Area price...

Actually my side moldings were removed when the car was repainted by the PO. He also added the GTS mirrors and had the calipers done at the same time. He said the cost for the paint, mirrors, etc was over $5k.

I am still amazed at what a great job was done. The car looks better than any new car on the road. Since I have had it I added the GTS wing and had it repainted Porsche Guards Red and clear coated and it matches perfectly also.

The only problem I had with the repainting was it looked like they forgot how to reassemble things so they just left them off. You cant believe all the little things I had to add :) :)

Wow, I didn't realize that the side moldings were so hard to remove. I'll hold off for sure, but if the car is painted then I'll probably have it done as I don't like them much. I remember when cars started to show up with such things and how cool they looked, but now they look a bit dated. The 928 without them looks like it could be a 2002 model!
