there is not a great pressure differential from bottom of the car vs the top if you will be ducting it that way. fans will help a lot, but its still going to be very very hot. you are going to be sitting in a 220 degree oven. two radiators in the fender areas like where the porsche 996 have radiators is an option, or a real elaboate duct from bottom to the roof. sounds like you are going to have it sealed up as well. thas a good thing, the last thing you want is superheated steam burning you to death in a roll over or impact.

Best of luck. I'm looking forward to seeing what sorts of numbers you get on the dyno.

Ben,

Thank you for the pictures that is a very clean setup they have there.
I do understand what you are saying with swapping the rad and fuel cell.
The problem that I will have is that the cells over here MUST have a metal bulkhead between the driver and it. That is one of the reasons that I went with that tank location.

The amount of ducting that I have to do really wont be that bad.

John,
all of the cooland hoses/lines will be fully covered and there will be no area for the coolant to enter into the passenger compartment should a hose etc burst.
As to point #2, I am going to be doing everything possible to keep the heat in that area and out of the passenger compartment. If it becomes too much I will add a heat shield and deflect the heat from radiating forward more.

Norbert,
I will have 2 fans on this setup as I will drive this car on the street and it would quickly overheat without fans.

Mark,

at first I had considered ducting it out at the bottom of the hatch window. As with the lexan I could simply bend the lexan and leave a nice opening there. But this area will be far too high pressure for this after looking at it more.
So after much deliberation I will be most likely venting it between the tail lights at the rear of the car. I will be having a lip above it and this will REALLY help to smooth out the turbulance at the rear of the car, thus aiding aerodynamics gaining downforce, and reducing drag.

*fingers crossed*

thanks Colin for the pics ! does the rules mean you must cover the fuel cell again with a steel plate inside the trunk ?

Doesnt have to be steel plate from what I have found, just metal.

So I will be doing it in aluminum.

But yes the fuel cell has to have a metal cover to completely cover it from the passenger compartment.

perhaps you can make that cover beeing part of the underside for your air ducting ?

Norbert, it will be partially incorperated. But I dont want to fully incorp it as I dont want that hot air to be heating up the gas tank.

Well I figured I would post an update in here too.

I havent done too much with the car as of late, but I did modify the shifter linkage more.

I have now eliminated the front shift tube (and with it the front ball cup/bushing).
So far I am (that I am aware) the only manual 928 without these parts in them

Some pictures of the amount of throw,

And a video or me cycling through the gears here

Wow Colin, you almost have as little shifter throw as I do.

Actually Adam, I think I have less.

And more gears, and less drivetrain loss too

I dunno Colin, I'm so fast that at times you will swear that you don't see my hands move off the wheel when I shift gears. I tell ya, sometimes I frighten myself. I'm that good.

Hey, some women like "ole slow hand".
At least she was well rested for the long ride home.

So when's the big MSII install party down here?
