There's been talk with the local racer's here that the new rules this year require the side bars on both sides of the cage to go into the doors. Can you still use the stock windows wit these new requirements?

that picture of the white car, shows a harness bar that seems to mount right into the old seat belt mounts.
Do you know how made / makes it?
I need one like that.

It was a temp fix for a harness mount and it worked well.

For ITE, they are requiring that the safety rules follow IT specs, which require the factory door bars. if you have them, you bolt them back in. I dont have mine, nor do i think its nessesary with the dual cage side bars. they are not enforcing that down here in SFR region. I dont think any but a few have the factory door bars in tact.

as far as the side bars going in to the door areas, that is different. usually, they just want some space between the bars and you. even if they went way into the door, there woud be plenty of room for the stock window and assembly. However, there certainly would be no room for the door panels, especially in a 928 with that arm rest assembly.

you might want to get the clarification of the door bar design. often, they just want to see the two side bars connected with 1 or two vertical braces for extra strength.

The heavy tar plates seem to come out fairly easy.
BUT hoes does one get the whole interior cleaned from all the small residue of glue and foam?

I have heard that lacquer thinner in a well ventilated area works pretty good. And for the stubborn stuff probably gasket remover in a can....I think permatex makes it..
Those are the ones I'll try once I get to that point..

Xylene is handy for removing gook. It has really strong fumes, you must wear a gas mask and do it outside.

we used a high temp pressure washer - worked rather well but made a fearfull mess

I have heard the same rumors. Many cage builders have changed back to the opinion that pyramid X bars are stronger than NASCAR bars, so I doubt that rule would ever happen.

There is special stuff that you can get up here which removed glue and tar like it wasnt even there. Damn cant remember the name of it for the life of me though.

Though this is why I would rather tear everything off and just have the entire tub acid dipped and zinc plated, it will remove as much weight as is possible.

Just another quick update..spent most of the weekend working on the 82..Most of the tar is gone..still have the drivers seat area left..pulled the A/C heater unit...move the fuse panel and stuff to get the padding back there..same on the drivers side..getting closer...I've also attached a pic of Ken O's car..hope mine gets to that point soon..
