Electrical restorations
 

Working on my 78 car for the first time in a long time, highlights the need for me to do some restoration work.

A lot of the rubber hoses are shot, but I can easily get those anywhere.

However a lot of the rubber boots for the wiring harness plugs are rock hard and broken. Those aren't so easy to find. Anyone know where new ones of those can be got?

Also some of the wires have hardened and cracked so I'll be replacing those too. Anyone know a good source for the pins in the connectors? They look like they might be an AMP made connector.

I checked 928 Intl, but they don't seem to carry and wiring parts.

JR which connectors are you refering to?
if you are refering to the ones on the WUR, AAV and CSV, those are bosch connectors and can be purchased new from eagleday.com or diyautotune.com for reasonable money.

However what other connectors might you be looking for?

Not familliar with those terms, but I'm primarilly looking for the connectors that fit most of the sensors. That said though, being 30 years old damn near ever connectors rubber strain relief is hard as a rock. I'll check out those two sites though!

yes that is the exact connector that I have linked to, this is the new version and you can get it with or without a pigtail, without is abit cheaper but imo much more of a PITA to do.

This is also the cheapest place I have found to get them, other than maybe going to a junk yard and cutting them off a car as they are a standard item on most FI cars as they are used on pretty much all bosch fuel injectors.

And the terms I listed above you should be familiar with owning an early CIS car.

AAV is Aux air valve, this lets extra air into the engine when starting cold.

CSV is Cold start valve for when the engine is cold it gives it abit more fuel.

WUR is Warm Up Regulator, this controls the system pressure when hot and cold, this basically keep the mixture proper at all engine tempatures.

Ah... Yes they are all so clear now.
My manuals call the AAV, the auxiliary air regulator
and I've always know the WUR as the control pressure regulator.
CSV, well heh... I thought it was just the cold start injector.

actually it is an injector, but an injector is nothing but an electronically actuated valve, it is controlled by the thermo time switch, cant recall where it is on the 928 though.
