Red face Exhaust system questions

I am looking for info on exhaust systems My 81' has NO mufflers at all on it! It has the cat and that is it. It looks like the exhaust tip may have some sort sound deadening material in it but how much is a 4 inch tip going to help! Almost looks like the kind of tip the kids put on their Hondas. Yuk! The car is actually not as loud as one would think with no mufflers. I like the way it sounds now but I am sure that will get old soon. Are there any bolt on kits out there that install from the cat back? will I notice any preformance gains with mufflers in place. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Cool

JIM,
Devek, 928 INTL and other suppliers have them.
Someone can give you the address or go to the 928OC site for price and address.
They will not be cheap.
Check the archives for: "It's the pipes Laddy", or type in rmb after you click the search feature at the top of the page, or do a page by page backtrack - those 1 - 13+ pages - at top of forum header.
You only have a single pipe on the 80'MY right?
If you go with a cylindrical thrush or cherry bomb
resonator behind the Cat. and a Flowmaster -the 15" model fits and doesen't hang down. And you stay at or under 2 1/2" pipe (keep the old tips)
should come in under $350.00. If you know a welder even cheaper.
Remember to disconnect battery and brain before they weld - don't go there - or have em'torch it together.
