ooh..ooh..ooh! Very nice! Can they do fuel rails, hose clamps, fuel dampers, throttle brackets like that as well?
Looks sharp! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Yes to all the above with the exception of perhaps the fuel dampers. they may be able to do them if plugged.
I wish I had all my hardware done too, but I can do all that stuff later. I was thinking about doing the fuel rails, but right now I just need to get things back together.

I know that two different metals, depending on what metals they are, can cause corrosion between them. Is it okay to have the insides of the coolant carrying pieces plated with nickel on the aluminum engine?

do you know how they did it? electroless?
it's prob'ly ok. nickel can be used to repair bad aluminum castings, so it should be ok here. the nickel shouldn't flake off, but if any did come loose, most likely it would end up in the bottom of the radiator.
that would make some schweet looking intake and valve covers...

yes it was electroless..
It's fairly inert, I doubt it will cause any problems. One could teflon coat everything if they wanted.
The parts could even be shiner if they were mechanically polished first. I just bead blasted and tumbled them. Came out much better than expected.
I wanted to anodize it all blue but the cast parts have silicon in the mix which screws up the anodizing, that's why I went to the nickel.
Alliance in Oxnard, CA (near Ventura)(ph# (805) 385-3330) can do all kinds of plating, from anodize to zinc. They do cad plating and even gold. I was told it would be roughly $180 for each fuel rail in gold (a little too pricey). They also do a nice brass plate which needs to be clear coated to keep from oxidizing. It's really cheap and looks nice. Anyways, Mark, one of the owners has a PhD in chemestry and is a good source of info regarding all these processes.

If possible, I'd feel a lot better about having something like the fuel rails done so that they're only plated on the outside. Wouldn't want to take any chances with any plating coming loose and plugging injectors.

I think the rails are plated inside already. They're steel and corrosion could be a problem, even rust with that Arco fuel cut with water.
Also the injectors have filter screens on the inlets.

Bernie,
Imagine the black with some nickel stuff mixed in!
Let's tear that engine apart. I think a nickel plated block would go great with those black cam covers...
