Belly pan with easy access for oil changes
Chatting to Nicole a month or so ago I mentioned that I had made a belly pan with access to the oil filter & drain plug. Nicole requested pictures so here goes. Please remember that I still have to do my pan gasket & that the belly pan is very home made.

I've been wanting to do this to my bellypan. You saved me the trouble of establishing where and how much to cut, although I'm going to do something slightly different as I have a stock plastic pan. You did a nice job of making new attachments for the cutout.
The bellypan is a nuisance. You reduced the nuisance effect with this mod.
Your post gets 5 Thumbs Up from me!
Now you can take it to Jiffy Lube for oil changes!!

very nice idea
This is a much better solution then what i had seen previously which was to just cut a giant circular hole in another aftermarket pan.

While you guys have your tin snips out, cut another ~2"x10" trap door directly below the harmonic balancer: this would allow a ratchet and 27mm socket to catch the crank nut ..... for turning to TDC on TB tension checks.
Whenever someone shows up for a 'please check my tension', I spend more time wrestling with those pans than doing the job
The oil filter trap door is excellent!

Nice job. I had done this on a previous OE belly pan - but it was damaged in my track "crash" about 3 years ago, and I've been driving/wrenching without a belly pan ever since. Have a new aftermarket one, but haven't installed it. It REALLY is a great convenience. IF I do it again, I'llprobably put a hinge on it, so I only really need to remove 2-3 screws/bolts for access. I had an Audi V8 Quattro that had such an OE access port in it's belly pan. VERY convenient.
I also like the idea of an access for the Crank bolt. That is a great idea as well.
Great start to '08!!

Nice, but I find removing and reinstalling front and rear pans quite easy on the later cars.
I only install the screws that go into speed nuts. If you don't install the two screws for the front ears that go into the chassis, the front pan is much easier to remove and replace.
Same for the rear pan, if modified like I previously posted so that the chassis bolts remain in place.
