'83 MY was first year when production started from VIN 0061. 1328 - 60 = 1268th US model made out of 2086 cars.

Interesting, I didn't know that. So my car is 0089 making it just the 29th US model that year. I did find out that there were some running changes in 1983 such as the brake lines are slightly different early/late '83.

I got those numbers from www.928s4vr.com. 928 Registry asks for a 'production number' when you try to join that site & none of the production numbers of current members makes any sense w/their VIN #.

Production number in Chuck's registry is just order number of cars listed. It has very little to do with actual production order cars were made in Zuffenhousen production line. VIN tells that.
