928 Movies
Hi all,
Just curious about any movies with good 928 scenes in them. Here are the top ones I recall and have copies of a few. Can anyone remember any more.
1. Risky Business - #1 in my opinion(and has that great 4.5L sound.)
2. Wierd Science - Great burn out scene!
3. Middle Age Crazy - Lots of scenes.
4. Banzai Runner - I recall this movie when a 928 and Pantera race.
5. ????? - Forgot the name but there was an early 80's Video about how fast F1 cars are. A Ford Sierra(?) starts out on a road course driven by James Hunt( I think). Another F1 driver(John Watson?) gets in a 928S and blows by the Ford, then Niki Laudi gets into an F1 car and passes both of them before they make a complete lap.
6. Scarface - Al Pacino buys one.
Any significant others I'm forgetting?
Thanks.
Joel

Tony...my understanding is that during the shooting of that scene, they had to film it over and over. It seems the 928 would not crush- the roof was too strong. In the end, they had to cut the roof pillars to make it crush~

Hi Tony,
Your right... I tried to forget that one.
Normy, I remember hearing this as well about the roof crush.I believe 928's were subject to actual multiple rollover tests when developed. I just talked to a former Porsche body guy here in Detroit and he said back in the 80's he recalls several 928 rollovers where the driver was banged up but was OK. One of these was 100 mph plus.
Thanks.

I hate to admit it, but I was watching "The Rookie" with Clint Eastwood and Charlie Sheen last night. In the opening sequence they stole a 928 and ended up pushing it off a moving trailer to aid in their escape.

Joel,
A few others not mentioned:
1. Against All Odds--yes, we all know the infamous Ferrari v. SC Cab. scene, but when Bridges' character is in the Outlaws parking lot, there is a 928 in the lot(along with a 924).
2. Some Kind of Wonderful--there is a 928 parked in the driveway at the big "party scene"
3. Terminal Bliss--some hokey-*** Luke Perry movie, he is some bad-boy rich kid and recieves a nice 928 for HS graduation.
4. Leonard part six--with Bill Cosby--he turns a 928 into his "tank car"
BTW, the 928 is in Cannonball Run 2.
I am just filled with useless knowledge

The following is not a movie but it's weird enough to qualify.
A couple of weeks ago on the Travel channel, in a piece on Miami's South Beach, the thing went: "...to belong in South Beach, you need the right address, the right clothes and the right car..." at that point, they showed a nice S4 coming down the road

Hi Joel,
Another movie with some good 928 scenes is The Hidden. It stars Kyle McGlaughlin as an alien bounty hunter and he drives a 928s. At one point the 928 chases an old seventies boat. It definitely showed the superiority of the 928's handling.

Donald,
I thought it was the 1971 LeMan's winning Martini 917.
