Cool Stock audio questions....

Quickly, what size are the stock audio speakers and how many? Did the sizes change at all from 78-86? Any other info on the stock audio systems would be helpful.

TIA

Cool

Before I get flamed, I did search. All thread containing the word "audio" have been read. Still, I don't know what sizes the speakers are in the front, rear hatch or back seat locations. Looks like 6.5 or 5.25" drivers and oversized tweeters, but I'm not sure.

Also, Are there any rules here about offering stuff for sale?

I just replaced the front and rear in my 80 shark. The fronts were 3.5. 4.5 were in the back. All of them were shot. They were all Blaupunkt and probably OE. The foam had rotted.

I replaced them with components from Cadence. 5.5 in the lower front doors (not the original location) and the tweeters in the armrest. 6.5 Cadence components in the rear. A tough fit in the rear, which required cutting and adding a depth adaptor. 5.5 would have been a better fit.

Also have have 8" JBL Subs in the back, but that's a whole other story.

Thumbs up

Thanks man, that helps. I've got a Nak 35z CD head unit waiting for th e928 that I'll buy eventually. I'd probably go with a single 10 as opposed to two 8s. I've got a single Alpine 10 in my jeep right now and it rocks.
