The latest Kim Crumb article on purchasing a 928 published in Panorama can be found in the July 1997 issue. I have an autographed copy. Woo-Hoo!

Unhappy

Ed, I spoke with PCA in Virginia and they indicated that no more copies are available. So they faxed me a copy. Is there anybody out there with a copy for sale?

Hi Guys,

There is a good 928 Buyers Guide in the September 2000 issue of UK, 911 & Porsche World.

Very good pictures of Red 1990 GT as well.

Pat,
Got a copy and read it whilst I was in London last April.

Good pics as well.

Also note that there is a 44 page buyers guide for purchasing a Porsche on Hartech web site www.hartech.u-net.com

Tails, I just visited the Hartech web site. It is very 944 focused and extremely inaccurate about the details on the 928 to include the maintenance with age. I think many that own 928 for any period of time and properly maintained it would agree that the maintenance requirements are extremely low as compared to other Porsche's and the cost are not exceptionally higher that other Porsche's. In fact, for those of us that are fortunate enought to own multiple types of Porsche's, 928 inclusive, we would say it is cheaper to maintain. The article is also incorrect when it states that the 928 is two 944 engines put together. The 928 is not even 2 924 engine have put together. In fact, Porsche began developing and designing the 928 in 1971, long before the 924 and 944's. It also neglected to mention, for all of its rantings on the history of these cars, that the 928 was the first "clean book" Porsche with it pedigree and roots founded completed in Porsche design and manufacturing (with the exception of the Mercedes Benz transmission in the automaitcs).

As for a buyers guide it was 44 pages of 944 rantings that depicts the 928 as a "heavy off balanced pig" in a few paragraghs and one page (page 8), without offering any detail about the size and weight of the 996 which now weights almost as much as the 928 in it heaviest day. Alot of Porsches most refined production technology was introduced on the 928 and as it was the Flagship Porsche for almost 20 years and for a number of those years was Porsche fastest regular production car. The article also neglected to mention those points too .

regards,

p@

Pat,
I'm only the messenger not an advocate of Hartech buyers guide. Up to the reader to ascertain information that can be used and it worth.

I've owned a few Porsches myself and have admired the 928 since introduction that why I now have a 1990 928 S4 and have driven most models of the 928.
