If you were the vindictive type, and I am!, you'd wish they'd have hit and run, but with the witnesses to get the plate/ID them. The penalties, at least around here, are pretty damn harsh. Now you'll just have to get midevil... on their insurance company. If you give a statement to the insurance co, be sure to tell them that the witnesses (who you can contact, I hope) saw them attempt to leave the scene.

Any professional bodyshop will be able to match that paint.

Cameron

That sucks!!! Your GT is too beautiful to suffer from fools that way. Good luck with repairs.

Make sure the body shop will remove the quarter window when they repaint. Some try to take a short cut and tape it which will guarantee peeling.

Bummer...
What Howell said on the trim/seal/1/4 window removal is a serious point.
Have a 'nice' talk with the repair shop, point out that you want a GOOD clean-up after the buff out
(if needed for match). My shop had to pull the interior to clean up the dried compound under the
leather interior quarter. Hated ME! While your at it see if you can locate the trim , especially the clip should tragedy strike at the shop.
Alas ... adults are seldom different than kids ... "I didn't do it!"
I hope all turns out well.

Cameron,
I know you must be sick over this. Some people just don't care.

I hope everything works out for you.

I feel for you....just went thru this myself from some kid in a parking garage to my front end (minor damge, but still). And yes Kyle, the kid did try to leave, even with me in the car right behind him!!! Amazing.
Anyway, 3 weeks later, car fixed, paint matched perfectly (Iris blue metallic - not an easy color either), and kid's insurance footed the bill. I told his ins co that he was attempting to leave the scene , that did help...

I'm so sorry to hear that Cameron. Thats just not a Merry Christmas at all. It just makes you sick to your stomach enough that your gorgeous shark got hit, then to know that the irresponsible sob's were going to skip out on you too!!! What the heck is wrong with people!?and they wonder why some people go postal. Those same people that hit your car would be the kind who'd roll around on the ground screamin they were dying if you hit their car while it was parked & they weren't even in it at the time!

I'd hate to think if that happened to my son's Roush if they tried to leave on top of hitting it. That car is everything to him & at 22 he might not think with the same reason before he took a breath to calm down 1st. His car had to be towed last month so I told him to call AAA. As the tow truck driver is loading his car, right as its going up the flat bed, he comments that he cannot promise that he won't damage it because the car sits low & has aero skirting on all sides. Before my son could respond, the front end gets damaged! Well, he damaged it again off loading it at the local dealer too! My son had me on the phone & I thought he was gonna go balistic on the guy!! It was all I could do to tell him that I could not afford an attorney to get him out of jail & defend him on assault charges! Much less the law suit to pay the guy's hospital bill. I was praying the tow truck driver would keep quiet & not mouth off to my son or it would of went down hill fast! Good part was, I had it flat bedded here to Jax & the AAA rep just happened to be there when the 2nd tow truck loaded his car. My tow truck guy called me to tell me that he had loaded it without any problems & the AAA rep watched him do it. Even though you couldn't see much damage, the front bumper had to be replaced & the repairs cost AAA a $753 check! If that had occurred with no one around, then you think the driver would of admitted anything?

I gotta add back in the uninsured motorist coverage on all our cars. I heard the other week that the number of drivers out there without any insurance is on the rise here in Fla.....not that it has anything to do with the ever increasing illegal aliens flooding in.

Hope it all resolves with your car back better than new Cameron, and in time for you to bring it to Sebring.

+1 on that unsured motorist insurance. I recently upped mine by 3x for all vehicles...for the same reason: Uninsured, unlicensed drivers have quadrupled in the DC area in the last 3 years.
