Default Thinking of selling, no idea of price

Unfortunately, I think it's coming time to part ways with my somewhat tired beast. Financially, mainly, as I think it's getting to that age where it would be cheaper to buy a better condition one down the road a bit. My time and technical proficiency aren't what this vehicle needs I think.

The problem is, I have no idea what to price it as. I did see the excellence market report, but I think their estimate of, what ~8-grand for a poor example sounds waaay to high!

So, I'm asking for suggestions, and I am expecting some looooow estimates here, so let 'er rip!

Here's some examples of condition:
BAD
bodywork, few bangs, pass. fender is US (it's a euro model). And clear coat is peeling.
Interior pretty bad.
Sunroof not closing all the way (I think one adjustment bolt is stripped)
Several small fluid leaks, I think, possibly one transmission (but that may be an improper seal on the AT pan).
Strange rough-running/bad fuel economy, but there's a few things I still intend to track down on that, possibly related to camsafts.
Possible head gasket leak (!)

GOOD (posssibly)
Timing belt/WP done within the last 3 years. (Not sure of miles, had broken odo then)
cleaned & balanced injectors (though may still be on the way out)
Trans fluid/filter replaced (why I think they didn't seal it back up right).
Rebuilt radiator within the last year (Thanks Rog!)
85/86 mainifolds + cat
Also possibly some hotter camshafts, though I have never seen them myself to confirm the brand or type.

Various other good and bad, I probably can't think of. I'm just looking for a starting point, which may help decide whether I really want to sell it at all.

Thanks all!

The Bad:
HG leak is a biggie. Those heads are hard to come buy and if there is an issue... well some will have bought an expensive paperweight. BIG MINUS!

AT is much less desirable unless you're Roger in Texas.

Body work is another big detractor for most IMO.

The Good:
It's a Euro! An 84 at that. That's a VERY strong motor when running properly.

The radiator, does't add value, neitehr does the AT filter.

Without confirmation, the cams mean nothing - remember the 84 Euro S was a 300 HP engine!

Conclusion:
I'd say for a "normal" buyer you're batting .300 - i.e. the bads outweigh the pros. I'd say $4k-$5k MAX especially with the questionable HG issue.

However, you might find someone who wants to do a 5-speed conversion and turn it into a track car. In which case, you might get $4k-$5k max. (I know it's the same number...)

I hope this doesn't diassapoint too much.

Well, dissapointing would be more like 2-3K, max.

Yes, the head gasket is my biggest worry at the moment. Though I have had one replaced before so the "leak" I see may be just leftover from that (I haven't done a thorough engine cleaning in a while). Though I suppose a quick answer to that would be actually check my receipts!

I'm still in a "might" state of mind at the moment, and not anytime soon. If I can resolve some of these issues myself, I would be more likely to keep it. It just seems like a long road for someone with my means right now.

Forgot to mention that there's in excess of 150k-miles on the clock.

Oh, and one small item, my Muse CD "Absolution" is permanently stuck in the stereo, that may be a plus or minus for some people.

Apparently, a PO (an extrordinarily stupid one IMHO) tried to to a repair himself. On one side he scraped the old gasket off so hard it damaged the metal so bad the seal actually blew out on me one day and dumped half the oil out. So, new head.

Well, I think you guys are helping me to decide not to get rid of it. Besides, went out to start it today and gave it a few good revs, which also helped!

I have to agree also, but I am a cheap bastard.
Some days I think the guy that sold me mine so cheap was a very smart man.

It's the ol' "Its worth more in parts" syndrome. Well, at least I know I have that option if it turns out the old boy is beyond hope.
